La Esquina (in New York) "Good dining atmosphere, tasty dishes of various tex mex interpretations" May 31, 2007 - Thanks to James, I had a great dining experience with some girlfriends here recently. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I recommend the fish tacos, the tongue tacos, and the beef dish (main). I liked the food, but unfortunately not the spicy beer special (imagine sprinkling cayenne pepper on your beer). Great mood in the restaurant, and the bar area is nice to hang out at after dinner with a digestif. |

Tamarind Tree "Surprising + tasty regional menu with dishes you normally do not see in a restaurant" May 31, 2007 - Very good interpretation of some unique dishes from North, Central and Southern Vietnam. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety; it was as if I made a culinary trip throughout Vietnam in one sitting (and a very full stomach after!). If you are not very familiar with the cuisine, get some assistance from the friendly waiters or a friend who knows. Some dishes are very hard to describe, but once you taste them, they are unforgettable. I had Banh Beo and Beef Rolls as appetizers, followed by Bun Oc. We came with no reservation on a Sunday night at 9:30, and we were seated right away. I highly recommend this restaurant.
