Postmark Gelato and Royal Grinders "Under New Ownership!" February 14, 2008 - I just visited today. When we walked in there was already a crowd, but the wait to order was short. I ordered the Italian Grinder. The service was great and the sandwich was tasty. I only wish the bread were a little crunchier on the outside. The owner was on-site at the restaurant and even gave us many samples of the gelato. Personal favorite is the lavender. The owner told us they have changed back to the original supplier of the gelato who has their place down at Pike Place Market. |

Blue Moon Burgers "Just Ho Hum..." February 12, 2008 - I've visited a few times now and I become less impressed each time I go. There are so many better burger places to eat in Fremont. However my biggest complaint is the attitude of the owner. He is rather rude when you offer menu additions. Oh and skip the grilled cheese, it is on a hamburger bun...hello too much bread for the cheese and I don't care if you cook it inside out...it's just wrong. Go buy a loaf from the bakery down the street! |

Butler Bar and Grill "My Impression..." February 12, 2008 - On my first trip to The Butler Bar and Grill...I was not too impressed with the service. When I arrived there was a host's podium at the entry, the place was moderately busy and a couple people were waiting. I politely waited, and waited, and waited, and I was never greeted. I decided to just leave if they didn't have time to acknowledge me in the five minutes I had been waiting (eye contact was made), then why stick around. On my second trip...We arrived and the host's podium was in the corner; plenty of tables were open so we seated ourselves. The menu is rather small in items to order (less than 20). We ordered two of the drinks off the bar menu, the Agave and the Boat Drink. The Agave wasn't my cup of tea and the Boat Drink was blended so well that I could not taste the alcohol. The surprise of the evening was the 5 Spice Calamari with Ginger Aioli. The breading was fantastic and the aioli was complemented the calamari perfectly. I could only suggest that the oil be at the appropriate temperature or a more attentive eye kept while the food is in the fryer. The calamari was a little greasy and a tiny bit chewy. For my entree, I ordered the NY Steak which came with garlic mashed potatoes and broccolini. The garlic mashed potatoes were the highlight of the plate. Even now, I can still imagine the flavors melding together. The steak and the broccolini are another matter. The broccolini were over cooked and the tips were just shy of being mush. While I had ordered by steak medium rare, you could visibly see that not enough attention was paid. Rather than having an even line around the steak, you could see that the cook had negleted the meat on the grill (pink was not in the center). My dining companion ordered the Grilled Chicken. The entree arrived with a risotto and caprese salad. The risotto was quite tasty, but I do not know if it was intentional to have the exterior of it crispy. A sign that it was reheated in a skillet or left too long without stirring. Either way the grilled chicken entree was good. 4 people like this review - Recommend |

Jai Thai (Fremont) "So-So Food" January 03, 2008 - I've eaten here a few times and I have yet to be amazed. The interior decoration is nice, however the best thing I have found to eat is their country style pad thai (has tamarind in it). Their Tom Yum soup is too sweet and therefore the balance does not seem right. |

Eats Market Cafe "Biscuits & Turkey Gravy" January 03, 2008 - I'll be honest, I can be a bit of a snob when it comes to Biscuits and Gravy. On my two trips to Eats Market Cafe I have had the biscuits and turkey gravy. The biscuits are tender and fluffy and the gravy is good...not great. Each time I have to add a little salt and a crap load of pepper. I'm not a heavy salter when I cook, but their gravy is flat without the addition of a little salt (<= 1/8 tsp). |
