Gordito's Healthy Mexican Food "Burritos Bigger than a Baby" February 26, 2008 - no joke, there is a framed picture of their grande burrito next to a swaddled baby by the entrance and guess what? the burrito beats out the baby. they shouldn't be called "healthy mexican food" but rather "mexican food for a healthy appetite." their tortillas are specially made, and surprisingly this isn't your average greasy spoon joint. the food is great tasting and you won't be sitting on the toilet the very next morning shaking your fists in pain and cursing god...unless you decide to try to finish that grande burrito. don't. trust me. i finished the grande three years ago on a bet and was full for the next three days straight. |

Mae's Phinney Ridge Cafe "moovelous food, but moonsterous wait" February 26, 2008 - locals would say mae's is one of those great neighborhood spots that you just have to try out, and the owner and cook resonate this intimate feeling. albeit to say that mae's is one place that you'll either love or hate, then grow to love. when i arrived at 9am on a sunday morning, there were 7 groups ahead of me just standing around and waiting to be seated. this wasn't due to a lack of seats but the fact that mae's is small and their staff is also small. i didn't much mind the 20 minute wait, but there are others who would understandably mind. their menu is more than just a hit list of breakfast staples and i was pleasantly surprised to be able to switchout my order of hashbrowns with grits. i ordered the trout and eggs, both locally grown and picked. i opted out of my usual coffee and added a fruit smoothie to the meal, and to my own delight the smoothie was delicious. the meal itself was basic, with the trout baked and lightly seasoned. something could be said for the power of simple flavors, and i left full and content. i wouldn't quite say that mae's isn't gourmet, but that it's food is wholesome, matching perfectly with the random knick-knacks lining the walls and smiling mae who takes your order. so is it worth the wait? order one of their smoothies and cinnamon buns and the decision should be apparent. |

Maggiano's Little Italy "Tasteless Food and Service" December 30, 2007 - I often stray from writing reviews right after a negative experience, giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but I've been thrice disappointed with both the food and service at Maggiano's. Their food is sub-par and dry with pasta dishes receiving only a sprinkling of sauce. Granted, Maggiano's does offer an open inviting atmosphere for couples and groups, but be warned that if you have a large group (birthday parties, work dinners, etc) their POS systems (point of sale, not piece of s***) are only able to charge 4 credit cards per bill. this isn't entirely the fault of Maggiano's but is still a red mark in their court and had my friends scratching their heads on how to split the bill between the ten of us. The icing on the cake was when they spilled a dish over my friend's coat, neck and back and neither gave him an apology nor comped his dish. They did offer to pay for his dry cleaning, but not apologizing is ridiculous. I won't give Maggiano's another chance to disappoint me and neither should you. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Wasabi Bistro "OK Sushi at This Belltown Hotspot" November 12, 2007 - this never gets first pick in my mind when wanting to go out for sushi. it is a popular belltown spot, but that is mainly due to its strong dating scene and late night kitchens. the sushi is "good enough," but has never excited me and the wait staff aren't the best. actually, the wait staff is usually very attractive, but cuteness has never equated to friendliness. there are always more negatives in my mind than positives when friends propose to go here. |

I Love Sushi "A Well Deserved Reputation" November 12, 2007 - i have always had above excellent service at this establishment. the waiters and waitresses are always upbeat and tentative while the chefs are talkative and knowledgeable in what they are doing. parking is always a mess, though, and you will most likely be stuck paying for a spot. the food is excellent at the prices set. there are more fancy sushi restaurants in seattle, but i love sushi is always a winning decision. |
