Fuji Sushi
"Fuji is the real deal"
August 15, 2007 - Wow, I can't believe that someone had a negative experience and that the place was empty; this has never been my experience. I've eaten at Maneki once and never went back - why? because a cockroach crawled across the table and onto my friends arm before we saw it coming. Then, we noticed another roach on the wall. Sorry, but I find this sickening. OK, that said, having lived in Japan for several years and bringing all of my friends visting from Japan to Fuji Sushi, I've never heard anything other than raving and comments on the authenticity. There are items on the menu that you won't see at any other restaurant in Seattle. Of course, there are also the standards. What also distinguishes Fuji from other places in Seattle is that they import some delicacies direct from Japan, the Tokyo Fish Market to be precise. The sea snails are divine, marinated baby squid, numerous kinds of fish for sashimi or sushi. "Shiro's" is delicious, but not any better than Fuji; "Nishino" is superb but it's very expensive and "fusion" cooking as opposed to "bistro-style" fare. I heart Fuji which is why I've been going there for 10 years.
