Austin Cantina
"Disappointed"
June 27, 2008 - I was really excited to try the Chicken Fried Steak here, because it's a dish I like, but don't tend to order because I'm sketched out  by conventional beef. The natural beef at the cantina couldn't make up for the shortcomings of its preparation however. This steak had more of a chicken nugget texture. Sadly the chicken mole wasn't that great either.

Lunchbox Laboratory
"Not the right formula"
May 22, 2008 - Is there a new rule in Seattle that cut-above food has to come with a side helping of attitude and presumption? In the name of procuring a supposedly natural meat burger, I could almost forgive the nearly illegible and overwhelming chalkboard menu and the too-greasy burger (which came in way too much packaging to meet their mission statement goal of being earth friendly). What I can't look past is the self-aggrandizing overselling of the mystery meat (don't ask where it's from, they won't tell you) and the rude service.

Jhanjay Vegetarian Thai
"Aroy dee! Delicious Thai food!"
May 21, 2008 - Comfortable setting, authentic Thai flavors, delightful service!  Everyone who knows me knows that ever since I visited Thailand, I have been obsessed with finding good, true Thai food in Seattle.  I finally found it in Jhanjay. The green curry is wonderful and my favorite of the six dishes I've tried so far. You can't go wrong!  Save room for the sweet sticky rice with mango if it's in season. (PS - you won't miss the meat, I promise).

Ballard Brothers
"Too much sauce"
March 24, 2008 - Mayo, tartar sauce, special sauce - all great condiments when used in the right quantity. Every sandwich I've had here (even when I ask for ez sauce) is a soggy mayo-based mess.

Tilth
"Tilth n. 1. Prepared surface soil. 2. Empty promises. Empty wallets."
September 18, 2007 - I left Tilth grimacing at its lack of value, innocuous food,  insincere service and misleading name. Tilth doesn't have much to do with the tilth in my estimation.  The menu is heavy with meats, but a surprising dearth of vegetables!  Instead of accompanying  selective meats with abundant and interesting fresh vegetables - you have to order the plate of lettuce to get your green quotient for the day. Really, it's a plate of lettuce with an average dressing.  My corn flan plate was a non-descript jello pudding accompanied by flavorless corn niblets. Absolutely disappointing.
