Serafina
"Rustic Italian Charm Defines Eastlake's Serafina"
November 08, 2006 - Serafina, which began welcoming guests in 1991, is nestled along the East shore of Lake Union. Specializing in Italian country cuisine and Tuscan interior, Serafina provides a cozy yet romantic atmosphere perfect for enjoying a late night dessert with a loved one or sipping a mimosa during Sunday brunch in the courtyard.
The menu devotes itself to potent flavors and fresh, simple components of Italian cooking, providing a variety of dishes for all who visit the neighborhood eatery. While we have yet to depart Serafina for under $80, I highly recommend it given the ideal setting for quality Italian cuisine and a welcoming ambience that embraces your heart and soul when you enter the door.

Volterra
"Volterra unites Tuscan and Northwest cuisine"
November 08, 2006 - Known for its Tuscan-style cuisine, Volterra features the culinary work of Chef Don Curtiss, who has over 20 years experience. He centers the menu on uniting the charm of Tuscan tastes with a Nortwest flare. With a warm and inviting ambience, I enjoyed the roasted wild boar tenderloin with a lovely cream sauce made from gorgonzola and mustard (cinghiale al gorgonzola). I had the opportunity to also enjoy the spaghettini cio granchi, or thing spaghetti pasta tossed with spicy tomato sauce and Dungeness crab meat. Although their menu has probably changed (we went Fall 2005) I'm guessing they've got some new and exciting dishes that are worth the trip to Ballard.

Purple Cafe and Wine Bar (Kirkland)
"Great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff"
November 01, 2006 - I love Purple! My husband and I go there often and enjoy the food and atmosphere. Its got a great wine list as well. During the summer months, the outdoor seating is nice. Plenty of parking too and the wait typically isn't too long (they only take reservations for large groups). Here is a link to a review on my first trip to Purple, almost a year ago: http://lizmcfadden.spaces.live.com/?_c11_blogpart_blogpart=b logview&_c=blogpart&partqs=amonth%3d11%26ayear%3d2005
