Mayuri Indian Cuisine "Skip the Buffet, Go fo Dinner" March 06, 2008 - To truly experience the best of Mayuri cuisine, go there for dinner. The food will be freshest and you'll have the biggest selection of entrees to choose from. Mayuri specializes in Indian crepes--called Dosas--which are not to be missed. |

Café Presse "Not As Good As Le Pichet" January 06, 2008 - Unfortunately, because Capitol Hill sure could use a place like this. The atmosphere in Cafe Presse is not nearly as quaint--or French--as inside Le Pichet. It is designed more like a student cafeteria. And the extra-high ceilings don't do much to foster a cozy feeling. The waitstaff is far less trained and professional than at Le Pichet. I was mortified to see a waitress and a chef walking around the restaurant gnawing on baguette.Although the menu is the same as Le Pichet, the food didn't taste as fresh or as well prepared. Best bet: head down to Le Pichet if you can. |

Kasbah "Great Lamb Dishes" January 06, 2008 - I've only eaten here once, but the lamb dishes that my husband and I had were delightful. The meat was fresh and slow-cooked for so long it was amazingly tender and falling off the bone. Our table also shared a surprisingly good appetizer that consisted of flaky crust, ground chicken, and some powdered sugar. And unlikely combination, but very good. Two disappointments: the lame anorexic white girl who tried to belly dance (sans belly) and the tea. Well, the sweetened mint tea was tasty, but each small glass cost $1.50 each. Hope the management will realize the could build lots of good will with free refills. After all, how much does it really cost to make some sweetened mint tea? |

Wann Japanese Izakaya "Best Japanese in Seattle" January 06, 2008 - I just discovered this place last month and already I've been there at least a half-dozen times. Their happy hour menu (5pm to 7pm daily) is just amazing. For $7, you get a very fresh and tasty sashimi plate with tuna, yellow tail, and salmon. The thick tempura-fried potatoes with seaweed powder are a must-try. Warm and comforting and not even a tad greasy. The chamame is, indeed, a richer, more flavorful type of edamame, and they are always cooked to perfection. The drinks are excellent too. Try the ones with made with shochu (a very clear Japanese liquor). The atmosphere and service are great, and they serve food late on weekend nights. 2 people like this review - Recommend |

Mayuri Indian Cuisine "Good...If you like spicy" January 06, 2008 - I love the food at this place. It's the best Indian food I've had in the Seattle area. In fact, I'd say it's worth crossing the bridge for. However, the staff doesn't seem to understand the word "mild," so many people I've gone there with have complained that it's too spicy. Also, the staff is pretty surly. We once had them complain we were eating with the wrong plates (they were the only ones they'd brought us!) and we were forced to move all our food to new plates partway through the meal.Personally, I love spicy food. And I love the food enough to suffer through the surly staff. |
