Old Glory BBQ (in Washington)
"Gross"
January 17, 2008 - I went to Old Glory off of a referal for the evening dining. I found it to have a nice look from the outside with a very welcoming entrance, but everything changed once I walked in the door. As I walked in it didn't seem very busy at all but I had to stand there for about 3-4 minutes before I was approached by anyone as several servers just walked by me without even acknowledging my presence. The place upon entering was relatively clean but had a really greasy smell to it. Upon finally being seated I sat at a table that had a wooden "caddie" that housed 6-7 different sauces that was discustingly filthy. The table, which is covered in a butchers type paper was dirty as if someone had been sitting there right before I arrived. The tableware was spotty and had a smeared residue on them. After enough time to notice these things I was finally approached by a server. I was offered some corn bread muffins that were cold, and slightly burnt accompanied by a peach butter that I found overwelmingly sweet. My server was very young and really couldn't explain much about the menu or the items on it. So to make things(what I thought to be)simple I ordered the Pork Platter with a side of Mac&Cheese and Potato Salad. Upon waiting for my food I observed some very unsanitary actions in the kitchen as there is a window allowing you to look in at the cooks as they prepare your food. Most of them had no gloves on and were handling the food with their bare hands! The aprons that they were wearing were filthy, and the window itself was filthy. Now comes the really interesting parts. My pork platter arrived in fairly good time it was delivered by what I assume to be a food runner whom just tossed on my table and as I asked a question the food runner seemed as if he didn't speak English and just sped away. So onto the food. Everything was cold. The Mac and Cheese looked as if it had been sitting in a warmer for days. There was no cheese sauce left and the macaroni was severly over cooked The potato salad was sour and I find it hard to believe that no one else would have complained about it. Now comes the gross part. After getting a warmed plate that had clearly been put in the microwave I saw two roaches scurry across my table. After alerting the staff i was approached by a manager who appeared to be more concerned about comping my meal and getting me out of there then even wanting to address the problem. I found Old Glory to be the most dissapointing dinning experience that I have ever had and as a traveling businessman I eat out a lot all over the country. The only good thing that came out of this experience was I didn't get sick from the food. I would never reccomend this restaurant. What a nightmare!
