Honey's Kettle (in Culver City) "Great Party Food" April 05, 2008 - Wherever I'm going to need to serve 12 or more in a pinch I pick up a few boxes of their chicken and it's good even when it's cold. Just make sure they don't give you your big portion in metal containers, that steams the chicken and ruins the crisp. I like to get a big ol' thigh then walk over to Tender Greens (next door) and order a salad to go with it. It's a great lunch combo... 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Houston's (in Manhattan Beach) "Go for the Prime Rib" April 05, 2008 - There's not a lot of places in town anymore that you can get prime rib any day of the week. We used to go to Lawry's when the hankering came up but the quality of beef dropped while the prices went up. The one in Century City is a zoo, but the one in Manhattan Beach seems better managed. Don't bother with much else on the menu, it's prime rib or the prime rib sandwich. Treat it more like a diner than an upscale restaurant and you'll leave satisfied. They mix a decent cocktail with a generous pour as well. |

Don Antonio's (in Los Angeles) "Get the #16" April 05, 2008 - Chile Verde. Soft chunks of pork in a perfect sauce. It's the only thing I have there and everyone with me is always jealous when we get our food. Don't muck about, get the #16 and a Patron Cadillac margarita and you'll be all set to get your Mexican fix. |

Kate Mantilini (in Beverly Hills) "It will do in a pinch..." April 05, 2008 - This a a place I go to often for work type meetings, for that, the booths by the window are great. Lots of privacy there. The bread is crusty and sour, which I love. But after that the food is just okay and very pricey although the portions are big and fine for sharing. They'll serve you the classics and it's about what you might expect. Not mind blowing, not disappointing. They are open late though and that is definitely a perk. |

Nate 'n Al (in Beverly Hills) "A real place in Beverly HIlls" April 05, 2008 - There is no scene here, if there any famous people, they are here to duck and cover and just eat some good comfort food. I came here for a business lunch and didn't feel like anyone was trying to listen in or cared one ounce about "industry talk" which was a great feature considering it's location. I had the salmon benedict, the eggs poached perfectly, the hollandaise rich but not to thick, the salmon portion generous, the orange juice freshly squeezed and the hash browns sinfully crispy. It's not a light meal, but a great deli and a place that is sure of who they are and what they serve. Prompt no-nonsense service. |
