"Most Pleasant [and affordable] Surprise"
by Dennis Dines Out
(18 reviews) October 02, 2007 - My wife and I stumbled upon Entre Nous late on a rainy Saturday afternoon. At the street level, Entre Nous isn't visually appealing, and is on a visually challenging block. Go in, anyway. The menu describes itself as French tapas. That's a good description as they are all small plates, with a decidedly French countryside influence. My wife and I ordered five plates, and some bread and weren't disappointed. We started with a fennel, green pepper, and roasted tomato salad. It wasn't quite what we expected -- it was a chopped salad -- but was delicious in a light vinaigrette.Next, we dug into the haricot vertes. These were green beans the way they are meant to be, sauteed in a light sauce with shallots and black pepper. The beans themselves were crisp and delicous. We shared two meat plates -- a grilled sausage on ratatoiulle dish [fantastic] and a grilled pork escalope in a sauce that only the French can make. Wow - these really were fantastic.Think small French bistro, and you get the idea. Don't be put off by it being across the street from the Macy's parking deck, vive la France! 2 people like this review - Recommend |
