"Comfort Food & Charm"

May 05, 2009 - Likes it - It's rare to find a cafe where the waitresses remember your name, let alone your usual breakfast order. The owner of Alexa's Cafe, Leigh, makes sure her staff members take pride in the cozy, homey feeling of the cafe, and it shows. Cozy chairs, warm yellow walls and wonderful food combine to create a uniquely down to earth place to relax and enjoy friends. It's not just a cafe, it's a second home. Try the chocolate chip cookies with a cup of coffee--YUM! 3 people like this review Recommend |

May 05, 2009 - Likes it - I'm confused at the two previous reviews. We have eaten at Alexa's many times with our two young children and never had a problem. I don't let my children play on the floor. When we are there my kids grab a toy and play with it at the table. Leigh has always been very friendly with my kids. My daughter's name is Alexa so she has to talk to her about that every time we are there. I would feel completely comfortable reccommending families with young ones eat here. 3 people like this review Recommend |

April 29, 2009 - Doesn't like it - Our experience at this café was shocking. The staff were nice but unfortunately the owner is extremely rude. We were all shocked by her behavior, bad mood, and temperament. I'm surprised a business owner runs her company in such an unprofessional manor. After talking to others about our experience today, I was not surprised to learn this is not the first time a bad experience has happened at the Alexa's Café. We will defiantly never support this business again, and will gladly not recommend it to any of our friends or family in the community. Very disappointed. 2 people like this review Recommend |

"NOT KID FRIENDLY!!!!!!!"

April 29, 2009 - This morning I went to have a nice breakfast with 5 other moms and their children, there were 6 moms and 5 kids. It was early on a Wednesday morning while our older kids were in preschool and we thought it would be fun to have a nice breakfast together and decided to go down the street to Alexa's to enjoy a nice time of breakfast and socializing. It was pretty empty so we let our kids go over to the toy basket, not sure why they have this, and play on the floor as they were not disturbing anyone else. They were over there for quite awhile playing and they did spread out the toys in the area they were in but we were going to clean it up and they was no one sitting anywhere near them. No one said anything about it and then not too long before we were going to leave the owner, Leigh Henderson, came over to the kids, not the parents, and very rudely told them that this was not their house and they needed to clean up their mess. We were very surprised and shocked. We cleaned it up and decided it was time to leave. Two of our group went up and talked to her about it and she offered no apology whatsoever and was very rude to them!!! You would think if there was a problem something would have been said much earlier and in a much nicer manner to us the parents and we would have gladly taken care of it. You would also think that in this economic climate when people are cutting down on discretionary spending that you as a restaurant owner would be happy to have 11 people in your restaurant on a Wednesday morning ordering breakfast. Well needless to say none of our group plans to visit their restaurant again after how we and our children were treated. So we are not sure why they even have a toy basket there and you definitely want to think before going there if you have kids!!!!!! 4 people like this review Recommend |

January 27, 2009 - Likes it - Whenever I have family visiting from outside the Seattle area, or some friends coming "up north" to Bothell from the south end of King County, I insist that we do breakfast at Alexa's. The most exciting thing I learned in 2008 was that owner Leigh also opened an Alexa's at Swanson Nursery in Seattle. All of you Ballard folks need to stop in a try this place. The comfort you'll find is not just from the excellent food -- the atmosphere and the staff area all amazingly welcoming. 4 people like this review Recommend |

December 20, 2007 - Likes it - I love this place for breakfast, and their lunch specials look attractive as well. The setting is small town (which Bothell is) and it's not overly cutesy. Its closer in the Maltby Cafe (another favorite) and less CRAZY BUSY. 6 people like this review Recommend |

July 27, 2007 - Likes it - Thick sliced bacon and the breakfast potatoes are worth the visit. Plus, the atmosphere is that of a small town diner......but close the the big city! A favorite for my wife and I to sneak away and have breakfast during the week. 5 people like this review Recommend |
