September 02, 2009 - Really likes it - After eating recently at Purple's and Preservation Kitchen and being ultra disappointed with the rather boring food, some of which is deep-fried, my girlfriend and I have finally found a reason to stay inside the Bothell-Woodinville area, and not drive all the way to Seattle to have a great dining experience. We revisited Russell's in Bothell last weekend and the service and food was totally impeccible. She had the seared Chilean sea bass and I had the lamb ravioli. It was so good we almost didn't want to exchange bites! Looks like they've added a new sports bar area w/large screen TV and a few more bronze wildlife sculptures. Chef Russell circulated around the tables, came over to ours and and gave us some entertaining small talk . . . don't see that everyday at a restaurant! Must say, that made us feel very welcome and appreciated. |

"Best food in Bothell, period."

July 09, 2009 - Likes it - I can't tell you how happy I was to stumble upon Russell's in Bothell. I used to have to drive to Bellevue to find any fine dining establishments.I haven't had a bad meal at Russell's and I think I know why, you can really tell that Russell uses the freshest and best ingredients possible. My favorite appetizer by far is the Beef Carpaccio. Perfectly seasoned with a drizzle of olive oil, lemon, parmesan, capers, salt, pepper and incredibly tender flavorful beef. The sautéed prawns are also a favorite. For an entree the New Bedford seared scallops with beurre blanc and wild mushroom risotto is an excellent choice. The scallops just melt in your mouth and the risotto is perfectly cooked. The staff at Russell's is very attentive and friendly and Russell is there every night to make sure your dining experience is a good one. Check Russell's out, you won't be sorry! |

May 10, 2009 - Doesn't like it - I have been a somewhat loyal follower of Russell's since his partnership with (Jonathon) Hunt. Good tasting, well executed food. The problem is that no matter how good of a Chef he may be, he does not have a strong front of the house staff. My last 5 visits have been an absolute disappointment in the service end, it has finally overshadowed the fact that my food was okay. I visited the Bothell hideaway two nights ago with my husband, and left feeling though my long relationship with this place was finally over. Forgotten bread, calling us "you guys" , never delivering my husbands entree (I had to find another server to ask if they could help us find his dinner) to name a few errors. When our server was alerted that his dinner had not arrived, she came to the table, and without a word to me, pulled my plate and walked away. We sat confused. Is she making a new one? Won't my Duck get overcooked in the heat lamp? What happened to his scallops? Explanation please? Anyone can be forgiving when someone takes responsibility, but this was done without apology. Our food was then served. His scallops were tasty, and my duck was rubber. Our server brought a glass of wine and said, "sorry guys...this glass of red is on me". Who asked for that? How about...."sorry for the confusion. How is your dinner?" I would have asked for the manager, but there did not appear to be one. Not even our dear Chef could be found. To me, a conversation would not heal this. It was just time to pay the bill, leave and NEVER go back. 3 people like this review Recommend |

"Always Wonderful"

December 31, 2008 - Likes it - My husband and I have been to Russell's in Bothell on four or five occasions. He and I like good wine, and great service, not to mention good food. Russell's is a "best kept secret" that i continue to introduce friends to. I brought eight friends (we get together once a year) last week for a holiday lunch. None had been there before (it IS really tucked away in a corporate park area - you don't just drive around and run into it). Every one of my friends said how much they liked not just the food, but the rustic barn ambience. At night, we have been to Russell's for dinner a few times, and for the great happy hours - BUT,we also had my son's wedding reception there. It was delightful. The servers were attentive, the food was delicious, and people raved about the whole experience. We highly reacommend this tucked away 'escape" for a romantic dinner, a quick and easy lunch, or a reception. They have told me that they cater, too. |

"Unbelievable experience"

December 02, 2008 - Likes it - Dinner at Russell's surpassed all expectations from my invitation to "the Barn." The setting is exquisite, the barn, actually a beautifully appointed restaurant , is an oasis in the middle of the business district. My dinner included grilled scallops and a delicate stuffed sole to die for! The upper level of the Barn is a spiritual experience with beautiful open beams and gleeming wood floors. The service, setting, and cuisine all make for an incrediblly delightful experience, soon to be repeated! 1 person likes this review Recommend |

""Disappointed""

November 20, 2008 - Doesn't like it - “Russell’s” in Bothell, has the makings of a very nice establishment, but at this stage, I think you could say they are most assuredly a work in progress.Recently, we had our Bothell High School reunion in the Loft at “Russell’s” (located in the barn just off the Beardslee exit in Bothell.) While visiting the guests was incredibly fun, the bill left us a bit surprised. We had a small crowd of 60. Our goal was to keep it simple and elegant, while trying to keep the price affordable for our guests. We had decided to offset some of the costs.• We brought our own table linens, napkins, and buffet skirting, • We brought and placed our own table decorations and candles• Provided CD music• We even brought our own happy hour snacks. The ticket price still ended up being $93.00 per person. The food provided for dinner was good but not nearly that good. FYI - Russell’s said they could accommodate up to 300 guests. If there had been 150 people we would have been cozy and left no extra room even for a small band. When we arrived to set-up, we were seeking direction for our slide show presentation and locating a couple of bowls for our cocktail hour snacks. Right away we noticed the head waitress had a bit of an attitude. In addition they were ill equipped to help us with any sort of space planning. All in all I think “Russell’s” is trying hard to be something they are not. That would be more tolerable if they were just a bit more humble about their shortcomings or maybe if they charged more appropriately considering they are still, in our opinion, a work in progress.Next time, I would seek out another option, not because the venue itself wasn’t nice, but in this case it just wasn’t worth the price for admission. September 20, 2008 - Likes it - My, friend and I were looking for a new resturant to eat at so we googled local resturants in Bothell and came across a resturant called Russell's. We had never heard of it before so we thought we'd give it a try. We sat down and were greeted immediatly, the staff was all very friendly and we felt very comfortable as well. My friend ordered the sea scallops and I ordered the new york strip. AMAZING!!!!! we had to share because each entree was full of flavor. We will be back. 4 people like this review Recommend |

"Perfect Resturant Experience"
by Eric Comrie

September 10, 2008 - Likes it - My girlfriend and I just recently moved to the area of Bothell and were looking for a place to eat for the night, I stopped into a local Tully's and asked the barista what resturant she would recommend. Russell's she said, I had never heard of it being from Portland. So I thought we'd give it a try. We were seated immediatly, and greeted as soon as we sat down, which was nice for a change because most resturants I find to be waiting quite awhile before being greeted. The waitstaff was very polite and professional and the food was exceptional, I ordered the Filet mingon, and my girlfriend had the halibut, we were both amazed at the presentation of the food and how it tasted. It was the perfect evening. We'd strongly recommend it. 2 people like this review Recommend |

"Blown Away"

July 12, 2008 - Really likes it - Guess Russell's depends on word-of-mouth because it's set back in an office park complex, in an old restored dairy barn. On a tip from a business associate, my girlfriend and I tried Russell's last weekend. Guess it depends on word-of-mouth because it's set back in an office park complex, in an old restored dairy barn with wooden floors and overhead beams. Has a very quiet, subdued, refined, elegant ,upscale white tablecloth home atmosphere, with one wall of glass facing a forest and bronze wildlife sculptures scattered throughout. She had sea scallops and I the New York Strip with brandied cherry demi-glace and of course we shared portions . . . there are no words to describe the subtle yet powerful taste sensations the chefs here create yet we couldn't stop talking about it. Simply incredible food . . . at surprisingly reasonable prices . . . I've probably paid 30-50% more at pretenious downtown bistros which didn't have as friendly or knowledgeable a wait staff . .. and finally, being a very critical (virgo) type, it shocked me not to have anything negative to say about the place. 4 people like this review Recommend |
