"Pizza Works, making healthier pizzas"

September 25, 2007 - Really likes it - OK - I am biased. Pizza Works and the now defunct "Dan and Dave's Pizza, Pasta and Grinders" were my 2 favorite Pizza places in the Kenmore, Kirkland, Bothell area. Pizza Works is 3 blocks from my house, I was an unemployed IT worker about to leave town and Pizza Works was for sale. So my wife & I bought it in March 2005 - kept the manager and main Pizza maker as part of the deal - so my favorite Pizzas are still being made - and I am making them part of the time. In spite of the "Healthier Pizza" headline, we do have regular type pizzas, except we don't skimp on the toppings and yes we do have some unusual pizza for those that like healthy or out of the ordinary pizzas. We have just recently added Vegan mozzarella "Cheese", Vegan "Meats" from Field Roast, Gluten Free and Whole Wheat Crusts to our mix. Our Gluten Free pizzas are prepared in a separate area and cooked in a separate oven. And now we have Gluten Free cookies and brownies. The Gluten Free brownies are sooo much better than our Cream Cheese Brownies that if it wasn't for the cost, we would switch to them. We are also serving Wheat / Gluten free spaghetti and meatballs, and individual Gluten Free cakes and pies from Sunny Vally Wheat Free bakery in Maple Valley.I should have written a review before we bought Pizza Works. My favorites are the Meatball Grinders yummmm, the Garlic Chicken Supreme, Italian Stallion (all meat) and Spinach Delight (vegetarian) pizzas, the Breadsticks (with extra cheese when the mood hits me), the Spaghetti, the Calzones (they take longer to cook but are sooo worth the wait) and the Greek Salads. My only regret is that I have to limit my carb intake - otherwise I would eat pizza, calzones, etc. three meals a day. PROS: Lowest Priced Gourmet Pizzas in the area, Soy Cheese available for those who are lactose intolerant, Many Vegetarian Pizzas Available on the menu, Vegan Options and Vegan Cheese substitute are Available, Many non pizza options such as Calzones, Grinders, Spaghetti and Salads. Wheat and Gluten free Pizzas, Spaghetti, Meatballs and desserts. CONS: Not enough Paglacci or Garlic Jim's customers have tried our pizza yet. |
