"Awesome Southern Food!"

August 19, 2009 - Likes it - I love Hoover's! Really great Southern food...everything I've had, from brunch to lunch to dinner, has been just wonderful! The pork chops are among the best and black eyed peas are just about as close as great-grandma's as you can find in a restaurant. The only thing that disappoints me is that you can get chicken & pancakes for weekend brunch but not chicken & waffles...WHY NOT?!? If Hoover's would just start serving a quality waffle, this place would be pretty much perfect! |

April 19, 2009 - Likes it - First time to eat here I liked my meal. I had the meatloaf with butter carrots, rosemary potatoes with small side house salad. The meatloaf was tasty. It was topped with a chunky stew tomato type sauce. For me it was a bit spicy but eatable. Not a dish for those who do not like any kind of spice. The spicy flavor did supprise me but the meatloaf was good. The vegetables were tasty as well. Service was fair. The A.C. was on and it was rather cool so I ordered a hot cup of coffee. It tasted like burnt mud. Other than that my husband and I had a nice dining expierence. On a scale of 1- 5, I'd rate this resturant a 3. |

"Good southern cooking, but..."

March 24, 2008 - I was sorry to see Hoover's is no longer serving breakfast on weekdays, but I can't say I was surprised. It seemed that they just couldn't get people in the door. Too bad...the food is great and super cheap. My only problem with Hoover's is that it is completely impossible to get anything healthy there, even if you try. So don't go if you're on a diet. Unless you're really not hungry. |
