"Food poisoning" by Wendy Lee (2 reviews)
February 22, 2008 - I have eaten at Stephos many times in the past and have always liked their food and cheap prices.
However, my friend and I got food poisoning there last week and when we called to tell them , the manager told us that they were told by a health inspector that the symptons of the food poisoning are similiar to a flu bug going around Davie street. I disagreed as we both had the same symptons after eating and it was not the flu bug. He had said he would let the kitchen know. There was no apology and no attempt at followup.
I told my work colleagues and one of them mentioned that they were not surprised as they dont eat there because they are aware of how the kitchen is ran. IWe think its very irresponsible of a restaurant to tell its customers that the food poisoning must be a flu bug and not to follow up to make sure it does not happen to other customers.

"Only in Vancouver ..." by Anatole Aesthete (36 reviews)
December 12, 2007 - Only in Vancouver would people actually line up for this pedestrian gunge. The word mediocre doesn't do justice to this food non-experience. The menu is pedestrian, the service casual, the food plentiful and ruthlessly BORING, like so much of the fare on Davie Street. This place is a monument to the adage that you can sell anything ... And they do, they do.

"Cheap but not very cheerful" by CJ (1 review)
September 11, 2007 - We waited an hour then were shown to a table out back in a corridor by the kitchen. We were the only people there apart from a couple of chefs having a smoke. Complained and eventually got a table in the main room but it wasn't worth the wait. Pile it high, sell it cheap seems to be the mantra here. Forget it !!
