"Just ate dinner here"

October 05, 2009 - Likes it - Apparently every monday night they have a flashback menu that offers some special dishes at their 1982 prices. A really great deal, and have never heard of any restaurant doing this. On Thursdays you can get a bottle of wine for half price with dinner for two. I'll definitely be back for that. I had the Crusted-Pork in Hoisin-Barbecue sauce---great portion, delicious, fresh pineapple. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

From the basics (fried rice, lo mein, moo shoo) to the rarities ( Peking Duck, Fu Yu Bok Choi, Wild Pepper Prawns, Flaming Fillet of Grouper, and 12-course Chinese banquets). A very thoughtful but small wine list is provided to accompany any dish you choose. The staff is delightful and very helpful. 2 people like this review Recommend |

August 31, 2009 - Really likes it - WOW! Such unusual dinner specials. All yummy. Cannot believe they have FuYu (fermented bean curd) on their menu. My family was invited to a Chinese banquet style dinner at the Pearl of the Orient restaurant. We were served 12 courses, each one better than the next. Peking Duck with not a hint of fat on the skin; Thousand Blossom Platter with five different marinated meats and vegetables; Filet Mignon in Black Pepper Sauce was out of this world, just to name a few. When the dessert came, we were surprised by the lightness of the Lychee Coconut Puree, a perfect ending to a great evening. 2 people like this review Recommend |

February 16, 2009 - Likes it - This is the first restaurant at which I ever recall eating. Back in the days when my menu bravado was limited. But Moo Shu Pork was fun because I got to play with pancakes. And my parents could let me go stare at the fish tank for the time it took for our food to reach the table. I can't recall the flavors anymore with specificity, but I can't ever forget that I LOVED going here. 2 people like this review Recommend |

September 03, 2008 - Likes it - Definitely not your run of the mill Chinese restaurant. Food is always excellent. Decor upscaled and pleasing. Unlike the loud-noised trendy restaurants the Pearl is quiet enough to carry on a conversation. All American wait staff to attend to your needs.Our favorite dishes:Peking Duck, Crusted Pork with Hoisin Barbecue Sauce, Pan-fred Scrod with Sweet and Sour Sauce and all their noodle dishes.By the way, their wine list is not too shabby either. 3 people like this review Recommend |
