October 16, 2009 - We like this restaurant. The food and sauces are great. Don't forget dessert. The chocolate cake is scrumptious!!

"Comida terrible" by Adam Wiener (8 reviews)
September 01, 2008 - Doesn't like it - I decided to try a new Mexican place with my friends instead of cooking one night.
Well, that was a dumb idea.
Hacienda Colorado has a acceptable ambiance (though it's impossible to hear through the roar of background noise and music), acceptable server , and the chips and salsa is really tasty. My friend said that the margaritas were good as well. I shared a large Mexican Combination platter with my friend, and my other friend had a simple bowl of green chile.
The food was not below average, it was not substandard, but I think I can leave it at saying that I would have preferred eating cold, soggy McDonald's McNuggets than dining at this dump.
My drink was terrible. I don't drink, but don't you think they could get a simple Shirley Temple somewhat decent? No. Do you think they could get a Diet Coke correct either? No, "I think a Cherry Coke would be more appropriate."
Then the food came.
I wanted to brutally torture the chef. The quality of the food was that of eating trash off the sidewalks in New York City. I had an enchilada - whose heat (not spicy, but physical temperature) was so high I was worried it would burn a hole through the table. I wondered if they used this tactic to mask off the scent and taste of a rotting carcass, trying to pass it off as an "enchilada mexicana". WRONG. I tried some new things as well, like a chile relleno. Maybe that's how they're supposed to be, but did you know if you wrap a tamale in a tortilla and then deep fry it - you get Hacienda's soggy, greasy chile relleno. And don't get me started on that green chile - it was overly spicy (which wasn't bad, since that's how it was supposed to be) but they could have done a better job by just pouring the whole bottle of green Tabasco to the bowl and boiling it so it could splatter the face of the customer. Hey - at least they wouldn't have to taste it! My green chile friend decided to trade his "soup" for a salad. Not exactly a good idea either - it was still mediocre.
If you are on your way to Hacienda Colorado or are thinking of visiting sometime, go find another restaurant. Because you definitely won't be able to find this one - it took us nearly 20 minutes of fooling around with the streets to find this shack.
In conclusion, if you do not have tastebuds or do not mind vomiting for the duration of your stay, Hacienda Colorado is a perfect choice for you. Otherwise, steer far, far, FAR away.

"Try The Sauces" by gcmandrake (9 reviews)
July 30, 2008 - Likes it - I've eaten at this particular location several times and the service has always been good and prompt.  The quality, taste, and variety of the food is very good.  Reviews that I've read correctly point out the sauces that are made fresh daily.  My favorite is the tomatillo.
The restaurant is mostly open, so when crowded the noise level can be a little high.  If you have a choice try for a booth or a table away from the higher traffic areas.  Around meal times there is usually a short wait, but there seems to be adequate places to wait both indoors and outdoors.  Definitely worth the drive.
