"Vegan Bite"

(8 reviews) May 01, 2008 - This is the second (and first north side) location of the vegan fast food restaurant. Yeah, that's right. Vegan. Fast food. If you've been too worried about the size of your carbon footprint to make the trek down to the original Beverly location, you can now indulge your passion for an animal free fast food burger (special sauce, sesame seed bun), chili cheese fries, chicken free nuggets or fair trade green tea milkshake just a few short blocks from the Division blue line station. Unlike some other hipster north side vegetarian spots, Veggie Bite is remarkably sparse and unpretentious - order at the counter from a menu board, collect your food in a few minutes and have a seat at a plastic table. You should be in and out in no time; and localvores, take note: their deserts feature Chicago's own Temptation vegan soy ice cream. The food is a tiny bit pricier than your average hot dog or gyro stand, but all the fast food favorites are represented and are well executed - their burger is just like an old school McDonalds burger, but without the karma. I'm lovin it. |
