November 03, 2009 - Reading about Sarah's untimely death shocks and saddens me. Since well before my first visit in 1998, Sarah's Kitchen was rightly hailed as a beacon of Clarksdale's blues scene and culture. I've listened there, eaten there, played there and walked by the club many times, taking comfort in knowing that, every so often, Sarah would open the doors and host the modern-day spirit of Delta blues for locals and tourists alike. I understand that Sarah's daughter plans to continue her work. This is heartening news during what is certainly a very sad time. |
