"Nahhh!"

November 21, 2009 - Doesn't like it - This is to Chinese what the Olive Garden is to Italian. Foods made for U.S. tastes rather than preparing traditional dishes. It's not that I won't eat here, but I won't wait in line to eat here, especially at their prices. I suppose it falls in line with trends like paying $7.00 for coffee at Starbucks. Congratulations to them for creating that kind of attraction. |

"In response to "Why?"..."

September 08, 2009 - Likes it - Because 1) the food is tasty (and clearly the lines indicate I'm not the only one who feels this way), 2) its kitchen is visibly clean (have you seen what most chinese restaurant kitchens look like?), and 3) the food quality is consistent. I'm no food snob, but I typically would rather patronize a locally owned and run business than a franchise/chain. When it comes to Chinese - maybe my palate is not too sophisticated, but I do like the taste of the dishes at PF Changs. |

"WHY????"
by Callie

September 06, 2009 - Doesn't like it - WHY are you all waiting outside in line for this dismal cuisine. They should have three sections in the menu: Really Sweet (and sticky), Really Salty, and Really Greasy. Its mostly some greasy meat deep fried and slathered in sauce. Vegetables are relegated to being just garnish. I couldn't imagine that there could be a place that would make Wendys look like fine dining, but P.F. Changs is it. Run away from the plaster horses..... 2 people like this review Recommend |

"Another mediocre chain restaurant"

September 01, 2009 - Doesn't like it - Got stuck going to P.F. Chang's at the Waterfront with the girls from work. It was their choice, not mine. One girl actually raved that this is her favourite Chinese restaurant! "Are you serious?" I thought. She obviously has never ventured outside the box. Yes, the menu has all the typical fare one would expect to find at a Chinese restaurant. It is somewhat "upscale" when compared to the garden variety Chinese buffets. The food is ok--not bad, not outstanding. Why settle for ok when there are some wonderfully authentic Chinese restaurants tucked in our neighborhoods? 1 person likes this review Recommend |

"Non-Chinese Chinese food phenomenon"

July 23, 2009 - Doesn't like it - The amazing thing about P.F. Chang - is that it's NOT chinese but founded by PF Fleming who didn't know how to cook chinese. It's more for the ambiance that it's interesting. The food is very ordinary, the sauces annoying. Best thing are the drinks. Go local if you want a good chinese restaurant. Not this place. |

July 23, 2009 - Doesn't like it - I can't believe this place is in the top ten Pittsburgh restaurants. This is a generic "Asian" food chain (by Paul Fleming!) that is overpriced and overrated. So bad. |

July 21, 2009 - Doesn't like it - It's embarrassing that this comes up as one of the top 10 restaurants in Pittsburgh...IT IS NOT. I completely agree with the reviewer below me. |

June 23, 2009 - Doesn't like it - Big deal...There are at least a dozen rock-solid asian places in Squirrel Hill and Shadyside that outshine this overpriced over-rated chain. Don't mean to sound a little pompous here, but this is the sort of place that the TGI-Applebees-Outback crowd go when they want some ethnic food. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

"It's a chain"

March 14, 2009 - Likes it - There should be a section on UrbanSpoon for chains and a section for non-chains. PF Chang's, good chain, but not in top 25 of all Pittsburgh eateries. |

"Mediocre"

March 10, 2009 - Doesn't like it - On the plus side, there are dishes for pretty much everyone, including Vegetarians. The space is huge and impersonal. Our service was really lackluster and the server didn't really seem to want to be there. He also knew very little about the menu. I had Coconut Curry Vegetables. The veggies were crisp and fresh. The tofu had a nice texture. The sauce was nothing special. There were also things that looked liked overcooked cashews in the mix. I didn't eat them. I didn't eat everything, and was glad. I like to save my curries for the next day because the flavors really become more intense with an overnight sit. Unfortunately, this curry didn't improve one bit. I also at the spring rolls. They were relatively tasteless and very greasy. My husband had Pan Fried Dumplings and found them to be OK. He also ordered the Chicken Lo Mein. The noodles were very overcooked, the sauce was tasteless and barely there. He didn't finish his Lo Mein. It wasn't even worth taking home for later. They were out of Green Tea during our visit. I don't think we will be going back. |

February 25, 2009 - Likes it - Do I prefer a non-chain? Of course. A lot of the reviews on here dis this place for just that reason. Are the flavor dumbed down a bit? Sure, but I think their Mc Pan-Asian flavor are great and for a chain, spectacular. Who doesn't like the Soothing Lettuce Wraps? How can you front on the smooth heat of the coconut curry tofu? And the ground egg plant is perfect. I'll take this place over the Caucasian flavor of New Dumpling House or Seseme Inn any time. |

"It's good food BUT"

December 19, 2008 - Doesn't like it - Here are my reasons not to give this a "yes" vote:1) It is a chain2) The combination of sauces at your table should NOT be mixed together by your server. That should be done TO TASTE by the CUSTOMER. Unless you have never tried rice wine vinegar, hot sauce, or soy sauce, and want to marvel at seeing them combined before your eyes3) Prices. You pay extra for everything. Most Chinese restaurants include tea, rice with the price of the mealThat said, the dishes they serve ARE very tasty, and the atmosphere is awesome chic. But do you really want an awesome, chic restaurant filled with yinzers, yuppies, screaming kids, and mall-addicts? Not me, I'll seek out a hole-in-the-wall with an immigrant chef who is cooking the real deal. Not some corporate-trained kitchen staffer working from a recipe. |

"Tasty!"

March 01, 2008 - Likes it - This Christmas, as a gift, I received a gift card for P.F. Chang's. I must admit I was rather reluctant to try PF's because it is Chinese food, and no offense but I'm used to associating that type of food with "take out".However, I was pleasently surprised to see, the beautiful interior design and spacious atmospher that PF's venu provides. I felt that the food was flavored to my satisfaction and, I DID use some of the sauces provided by our waitress and found that switching flavors slightly added to the diversity of the meal. The service provided was prompt and polite. We didn't have to ask more than once for anything, I acutally don't remember having to ask for much at all to tell you the truth!! In my eyes this can make or break any experience in a restaurant. If you want to give P.F. Chang's a try make sure you make your reservations early... seats go fast in this place especially on a Friday or Saturday night! |

"Heavy on the soy!"
by Diluculum

December 10, 2007 - Doesn't like it - Having heard from my wife that she had enjoyed a meal at this chain in New York, I looked forward to a fine meal. Much to our disappointment, both of our noodle dishes were over-seasoned, mostly w/ soy sauce. We found this ironic, given the waiter had brought a tray of various sauces before our entrees arrived and offered to show us how to mix them. (We thanked him, but declined. As it turned out, we didn't need to add anything.) ~ Diluculum |

"Oversoyed"

December 10, 2007 - Doesn't like it - The waiter arrived with sauces when he set up the table, but there was no need to season the over-sauced entrees we were served at PF Chang's. There was so much soy in both dishes (chicken chow fun and double-fried noodles with pork and shrimp) that we considered sending both of them back to the kitchen (they were visibly brown). The steamed vegetable dumplings we'd had as an appetizer had been just fine. |
