"Good Value, Good Food"

November 16, 2009 - Likes it - I was looking for a place to go out with my wife this afternoon checking for unknown to me restaurants in the north. I figured I would give the Rusty Nail a try.The ambiance of the place is that of a diner / family restaurant. To be honest first impression of the weathered awning and the sparse interior might of made me think twice about eating here if it wasn't reviewed as it was on this website. They did have a coffee decanter outside on the sidewalk to service people waiting for tables during what must be a busy Sunday brunch. The normal menu was average pub grub. They had a fair seafood section and a fold out spotlighting several specialty devonshire sandwiches. The special menu is what caught my attention and is also what was heavily promoted by the waitress. Speaking of the wait staff, they were extremely friendly offering up off the menu substitutions, basically you could get your meal how ever you wanted.I ordered a Chicken Monterrey and my wife had the Lemon Pepper Angel Hair with Chicken. She really liked her dish, and I thought mine was good. I'm not sure if they had a liquor license or not. There were 2 wine bottles on the shelf and some glasses but it might of been decoration. There was no signs of beer or liquor but it might of been in the kitchen.Keep in mind that this isn't a fine dining restaurant. The food is good, but not great. Think something where the food is like Eat N Park, or Kings but moderately better, hand made, and Independent.Rusty Nail is an excellent value, my wife and I were able to have dinner with leftovers for $23. At that price point I'm happy with the quality of the foodI agree with most of the reviews, but I felt they were lacking in setting the readers expectations. And someone might be underwhelmed if you are looking for white tablecloths. As long as your expectations are set properly, that this isn't fine dining, you will enjoy the food and it won't hurt your wallet. |

August 02, 2009 - Likes it - This is a great restaurant!!!! The dining area is a bit crowded, but the food is always tasty and cooked to your order. Don't go here if you are expecting upscale snobishness. This is the place where the people in the know go to meet and greet and enjoy home cooked food. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

May 16, 2008 - Doesn't like it - Well when we first arrived there we noticed the tables seemed to be cramed into a small 1 room dining area. The server came out and asked what will Yunz want to drink. Hold on I said are we in the counrty or down town Bellevue. my guest starred at me in dismay. I said 3 bottles of Figi water please. She asked what kind of water was that. I looked at my guest and they chuckled. I new at that point we were in for a long and bad experience. Looking back on this night we chuckle about this dining place. Yes it makes us laugh, but also made us unhappy. 5 people like this review Recommend |
