Upscale Food In A Downtown Atmosphere

  • Seasonal, Local, Organic Cuisine
  • House Crafted Specialty Cocktails
  • Full Dinner Menu Until 2 am

Open from 5pm until 2am and serving our dinner menu straight through the night, Gilt offers you an opportunity to choose the experience you want to have.

If you're celebrating your anniversary and want a great bottle of champagne and a cozy corner on top of a 4 course meal, we can do that. If you are on your way up the bike corridor and want a really good nosh and a quick cocktail on your way home, we can do that and serve you food that your momma can't cook. If you want to try a lot of different flavors and not walk away 4 hours and $200 later, we can turn you on to our selection of sincere cooking in portions small enough to sample without a huge commitment to your pocket book.
Gilt Welcomes Chris Carriker to the kitchen. Chris is the
'sincere' guy who is dying to cook his heart out for you. He's been practicing in every spare minute and it's time to show off...

We started with the angry deviled eggs ($2). I love that they are angry. These are definitely the opposite of sweet (hence the name) as they are prepared with calabrian chilies. The heat...

I love a good happy hour. Especially when they are super cheap. The Gilt Club is not super cheap. All the food is $5 during happy hour. But it is really good food and I didn't even care...

    Horrid service. Interesting food
It took 2 hours to get our dinners, 3 of the 6 meals were improperly cooked. 1 of the meals even after being sent back still came out undercooked and they still put on the 19% gratuity for a party of 6.

    Pros and cons
Pros: Great cocktails. In fact, amazing cocktails!
    Friendly service. Good atmosphere.
    Cons: Slow service
Food sounded way better on the menu than it turned out to be. Pheasant was overcooked, small portion. Short ribs were very dry. The only flavor the pork rinds had came from the salt sprinkled on top. I will not go back here.

Very romantic and the food is delicious
The atmosphere is impressive enough. But the food is what really topped it. Everything was great. Definately always recommend this place.

a bit deserted on a wednesday late evening but the ambiance and food were exceptional. upscale candle lited with a variety of dinner music at the appropriate volume for dinner conversation. music drifted into rap which was promptly changed. wine selection very good. salad fresh flavors and warm julienne strips of bacon and light buttermilk dressing. roasted chicken with fresh flavors of well fresh chicken. a pile of pommes frites to share. oberall a very welcome surprise. highly recommended.

    I gilt.
Went and spent too much on food and drinks and only felt guilty for gilding the lilly.
Can't think I'll return because I can't remember what was to remember about this place, the bizarre over priced cocktails or food I'm sure was better because of the alcohol.

    Solid Vibe
Really enjoy the atmosphere every time we are there, but the menu could use some more hearty meat dishes.  Great date place.

the ambiance of this place really makes the experience.
the service was lovely and the boar nuggets were scrumptious as was the mushroom panna cotta.
the stuffed dates were insanely good.
i ordered the steak and to be honest it was the worst steak i've ever had. it was super fatty and very chewy topped off with bland flavor.
BUT i would definitely try it again and order something else.

The cucumber martini was fabulous other than that it was highly mediocre. This restaurant is not located in the pearl district; more so it is closer to Chinatown. While the willamette week touts a good review, I must disagree, it is not worth the trek unless you happen to be driving by and nearby saucebox is closed.

    disappointed
Service was not so great. Noise level very high and absolutely no privacy. The risotto was not that great. Can make better at home. Bread was terrible. Interesting menu. Would like to go check out the bar some time. Likely won't go back for dinner any time soon.

    easily my favorite
well I've been to portland only a few times and I have made it here every time at least once, this trip twice. I finally was able to have dinner last night and I was not disappointed. every bite, every taste pleased my palate in a spectacular way. my only complaint was that by dinner's end i had no room for dessert, which was the reason for my second visit of the trip. we finished dinner at another pearl restaurant and walked 7 blocks so that we could return here for dessert. all the dessert menus i viewed didn't compare and despite my desire to try as many restaurants as possible this trip, i had to break my rules and return to this perfect gem in the pearl

Exceptional cocktail (Tequilla Mockingbird with its perfect balance of flavours ranks top 3 of my life and I am a very picky princess when it comes to cocktails) was so good I had to have 2! This was in addition to the excellent service, perfect ambience and very delicious food with thoughtful, well crafted flavours. We will be returning soon!

You have to stop by and try their Iced Spanish Coffee! Me and many others have not found any place to match their drink! Great either winter or summer!

    Unacceptable
I have been to Gilt Club numerous times and have been appreciative of their excellent gin selection and tasty food. I love that the menu includes small plate versions of most of their entrees. My recent visit, however, made me consider never darkening their door again.
We were seated in the restaurant section and decided to order some drinks. Since I'm a former bartender and current gin aficionado, I ordered for my date - a bone dry Aviation martini with a lime twist - and a "Bee's Knees" classic cocktail for myself (which was amazing, by the way). A few minutes later, the bartender approaches our table and interrupts our conversation with an opinionated monologue about how to order a martini with no vermouth - according to her, the specifier is "up." To make matters worse, said martini is vigorously shaken in front of us at the table before being served.
    Shocking.

    Shocking.
    1) The specifier of "up," in relation to a martini refers to a the process of chilling and straining the alcohol before serving. The specifier of "bone dry," on the other hand, means no vermouth. These are the classic definitions of both specifiers.
    2) If you're truly going for classic, gin martinis are never shaken, always stirred to prevent the gin from being "bruised."
    3) As a bartender, if you have a questions about a drink order, check in with the server instead of interrupting customers in the rudest way possible.
    4) When communicating with customers about your preferences for how they order drinks, do so in a pleasant, non-judgmental manner.
This bartender needs a lesson in cocktail specifiers and, more importantly, customer service.

My Favorite Guilty Pleasure in Portland...
Next time you are in Portland check out Gilt Club in Portland (306 NW Broadway). Went there for an amazing dinner (see below) while in town on business a few weeks ago. It was so good we went there two nights later for dinner again.
    First night had:
Raclette (swiss fondue) with prosciutto, potatoes, shallots and gherkins.
Radicchio salad with balsamic and truffle vinaigrette and parmesan cheese.
Strawberry Mountain dry aged cut steak with an olive oil and porcini rub, served with pommes frites and roasted garlic aioli.
    Second night had:
Manchego fritters with a roasted red pepper sauce.
Radicchio salad with balsamic and truffle vinaigrette and parmesan cheese.
Roasted pork loin with red wine braised cabbage and an apple and bacon relish.
All amazing both nights, although the steak was far superior to the pork. The radicchio salad was fantastic.
They also have some really creative and fun drinks. The favorite is called "Tracy's First Love"...

    Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy!!!
Beautifully stylish interior with dark wood, gorgeous lighting and intimate booth seating. The staff was wonderful too. Very laid back and very accommodating. Ask for a corner booth when you make your reservation (recommended as it's a small, popular place). Enjoy!

YES,YES, YES! Had thought about trying this restaurant since it opened, sorry it took so long to get there....last night's dinner shared with a couple of friends was perfection! Started out with good feelings with the very helpful & kind response when I made the reservation...asked about noise levels(husband has a hearing problem, and there are too many places with intolerable noise levels that became a one-night stand, no matter how good the food was). Throughout the meal, our server was a delight, helpful & attentive without hovering, fun, and his suggestions were right on. That was a bonus for sure, but the amazing food was the star....it was hard to choose, but we opted for five appetizers(elk tartare, foie gras torchon, duck egg with fonduta, salt cod fritters, walnut bread)three small plates/charcuterie(wild boar nuggets, rabbit & pork mortadella, pork explosion)one main(chitarra pasta with wild mushrooms)...

EVERYTHING was toe-curling delicious and beautifully plated, with some surprising combinations of flavors that really worked. From the first eye-rolling bite of the foie gras torchon to fighting over the last morsels of the desserts, it was clear that this was one of the best dining experiences we've had in ages, and not just in Portland. Willamette Week and Oregonian dining guides, this should be a major contender for the next 'Restaurant of the Year" award!!!!!
Pros: welcoming staff, war, ambiance, delicious food
    Cons: none
