"Sage is awesome"
by basics
(1 review) March 29, 2008 - This place has the best hummus and appetizers that I've tasted in town. I love the blend of the roasted red peppers and spices. Its not very often that you find a new riff on an old classic. 1 person likes this review - Recommend

"Sage is all the rage!!"
by foodie
(4 reviews) February 17, 2008 - In the last 20 years of my life I have personally ate at over 2000 restaurants. I stepped into Sage and the smell of food alone made me want to sample many items. I was greeted with friendly faces and requested to sit at the bar. It was a Wed night and I watched the bartender make drinks for the servers and the customers with out ever breaking a sweat. I asked for a Manhattan and I quite possibly had the best Manhattan ever. I asked about the menu, there really are alot of items to choose from. she suggested the Calamari for the appetizer--tendor and fantastic. The Spinich Salad with a spicy dressing-- just super fresh and awesome! She had suggested a couple of specials for my entree, but I wanted to know if the food off the menu would have that special care that most restaurants would have with their daily specials. So with her guidance I ordered the Expresso rubbed strip with the sweet potato hash. This was what I was waiting for . Cooked to perfection, med-rare with a wonderful flavor that just melted with every bite. And yes I had room for dessert! She brought out a wonderful tray of in-house made sweet shots, about 3 ounces of total heaven. I just told her to drop the tray I wanted to try all 6. I had one more Manhattan and I felt I was home. I finally found a St. Louis restaurant that can live up to it's name.

"Sage!"
by suzy creamcheese
(1 review) February 08, 2008 - My mother-in-law is picky, complaining, and impossible to please. I usually hate going out with her, but when my husband and I took her to Sage, she LOVED the Salmon so much that she was actually in a great mood, which put me in a great mood, not to mention that I also thought my Shrimp and Steak Penne was delicious. Thanks Sage!

"Not so much..."
by MoonLightOnWater
(6 reviews) January 28, 2008 - I found the ambience fantastic as neighborhood bars go. The service was good. The food was average, but fairly priced (crab cakes) to over-priced (the scallop special). I found the calamari with Asian sauce too heavily 'sauced' creating an off-balance flavor/texture combination. The special (scallops with saffron risotto and asparagus) was too heavily seasoned with dried Italian spices making the meal inedible (without taking it home and scraping off the spices), the crab cakes were tasty, and my dessert shots were 'weather worn'...exposed to the fridge air and not fresh....I’ve heard so much about Sage, that I had to go. Possibly this was an off night for the chef. Possibly growing pains… I’ll give it another try, but not for a while…. |
