"Oktoberfest"
by TheWeasel
(43 reviews) August 15, 2008 - Oktoberfest in Minneapolis just isn't complete without a visit to Gasthof's! During this month long celebration the parking lot is filled with 3 huge tents. Plenty of big beers, polka bands, and lots of friends. Heading inside you'll find the upstairs dinning area is usually not too crowded. Food is great with lots of German favorites. Heading downstairs you may find things are so packed that you can't move. The basement has a nice bar (no seating at the bar) and if you can push your want through the crowd you and your friends can share a boot of beer (don't forget to flick it before you pass it). In the last year they are now requiring a $50 deposit on the boot (too many people were stealing them or breaking them, we saw 3 get broken in an hour). Lots of great German beers on tap for everyone's tastes. The schnapps girls are roaming around along with the flavored snuff (snorting tobacco) girls. Gasthof's is a great place to party on the weekends if you don't mind being a little packed in while in the basement (go upstairs to the bar for refills, it's much quicker). |
