"Dedicated"
by Fred
(4 reviews) January 12, 2008 - One of the most delightful aspects of the Schnitzel Haus, besides Fred & Uwe's sparkling personalities, is the unfailing quality of food and drink. It is a 35 mile journey for us each way and we never give the trip a second thought, because the meals are always simply superb. We have sampled almost everything on the menu and have never, ever, been disappointed. Uwe is the King Midas of Chefs! The Schnitzel Haus is a must for all who love good food. "Authentic"
by Fred
(4 reviews) January 12, 2008 - Without doubt the most authentic, tastiest German fair we have found in the states to date. We both travel often and my wife was born in Germany, any trip has to include a German restaurant. Who would have known that the best was right here at home! We met with the owner Fred, who took the time to introduce himself and inquire about our visit in between serving food and bussing tables. Hands down this is the BEST place we have ever eaten. GREAT service, GREAT music, GREAT food, and a GREAT selection of beers. Overall rating 10+ - Thanks Fred for bringing the Schnitzel Haus to Brooklyn! George 2 people like this review - Recommend | |

"best Haus in town"
by Roman
(1 review) August 27, 2007 - Schnitzelhaus is my favorite restaurant in New York, no buts or ifs. I think that Chef Uwe is nothing short of a magician. The quality of food is simply guaranteed. And it's not just several things that are good: literally everything you try is mouthwatering.Uwe's escargot (Schneckenpfaennchen) is better than in any French place. Smoked trout with horseradish sauce (Raeucherforelle) is simply unbelievable. And every dish has a small twist to it, so that you are left wondering: "How does he do it?" To answer that question my wife and I keep returning to this place, and almost always we order the same things: pretty quickly we settled on our dream dinner. It usually serves as 1.5-2 dinners though because the portions are quite generous. So how do I know that everything is delicious? Schnitzel Haus runs a very reasonably priced buffet. It was hard to betray my favorite beef goulash, but I made it a point to sample as much as possible. And I can assure you: you will not regret going to this place. So the food is superb. How about the drinks during and the dessert after the meal? It would be a waste of time to advertise tap German beer. Well, Schnitzel Haus has plenty of it; there is always some beer promotion going on. My favorite was a liter-mug for $9. Holding that mug, you really wanna bang it against someone else's and yodel something.Have you ever asked for a dessert and were offered a choice: an ice-cream or an ice-cream. Well, forget it. Not here. If after the main course you still miraculously have some space left, you can indulge yourself in more than one way. The magic continues. Finally if you check the calendar on the restaurant's website, you will be able to hear live music, even live jazz with no cover charge. How's that for a good thing? 3 people like this review - Recommend |
