"Like the Florida feel at Charley's"

November 06, 2009 - Likes it - There are others with better cuts of meat I think but we seem to gravitate to Charley's more often than not for the atmosphere and the total experience. Kick back in the bar for a cool drink before htting the table for some good ole steak and potatoes. Or some seafood. Or both.I break it down into three areas as far as my ratings. Food, atmosphere and overall experience.I have had great steaks here and I have had some that could have been better. Same with lobster tails. So, in that regard it is a bit uneven but we still return.Actually had a pretty good pork chop one night. Drinks are a bit pricey as well but again, we know what to expect when we come here so it does not bother us as much as it would if it were a surprise. Great abr staff. Service is always pretty consistent and overall it is attentive and knowledgable. A great place to come if you are on someone else's tab or on expenses if you know what I mean.Nice wine list too. So, in closing. Food 2.5 out of 4 sea shells, service 3.5 out of 4 sea shells, bar 3.5 out of 4 shells and overall 3 out of 4 shells. 2 people like this review Recommend |

October 18, 2009 - We went to Charlies last Friday night.. Service was horrible. NY Strip had way to much fat.. And worst of all I had to go to the bar and get my own refill and ketchup for my child.. Waiter sent the operating partner over to our table.. He was glad to take my wife's skewer that was cooked wrong off the bill and the child's burger.. lol Bye Charlie see you at Berns or Ruth Chris's.. |

The steak was pedestrian at best and there was absolutely nothing special about that experience that dictates those prices.Flemmings gets my money for a great steak, good service and an atmosphere way cooler. 3 people like this review Recommend |

March 07, 2009 - Likes it - And then came the filet. Oh. My. God. But let me back up. I just left $60 at Charley's and what did I get? Three club sodas, an extremely average shrimp cocktail and a small salad with some blue cheese crumbled over it. Nothing to write home about. The service was just fine. I couldn't complain there it was nice that the bartender took the time to learn my name. Still, the run up to the main course (a 13oz filet) was somehow a little bit if a disappointment. I was prepared to give this place the thumbs down based on the hefty prices. Then came the filet. First of all, it was huge! Far larger than I had expected. They have a 20 oz, apparently. I'll leave that to someone else to try. Second of all, it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I had ordered it medium, and it was slightly undercooked, in my opinion, but I would have eaten it raw! Seriously! Look, once in your life go here and drop the money. Don't waste time with appetizers, go straight for the beef. I ha |

Our food was cooked to perfection! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK and please consider opening one in the Ft Lauderdale area. |

September 23, 2008 - Doesn't like it - In my opinion Charley's is WAY OVER-RATED. We had a $250 meal in August 2008 and were very disappointed both with the food and the service. Especially the food. We should have paid attention to a few of the negative reviews we read before going to this place!Our appetizers, as well as both steaks were luke warm at best. When we brought it to the waiter's attention he took them back to the kitchen for "warming". Come on, even a mid-level roadhouse restaurant would offer to replace the steaks! The steaks weren't even tender.The service was mediocre at best, the valet parking guys were not the least bit friendly, and the host or hostess was non existent. The food and service were just not anywhere near the caliber that you would expect from a good restaurant.In my opinion Charley's is one of those places that might have been good several years ago. But, if you're visiting Clearwater or Tampa today there are dozens of restaurants I would go before ever returning to this place! 12 people like this review Recommend |
