"If you like Meat!" by Fred Murtz (38 reviews)
October 04, 2009 - Really likes it - I usually don't review nation wide chains, but this place is Good!
Praise the Meat Gods! Fogo has some of the most succulent cuts of pork, lamb, beef and chicken. They have a red/ green thingy on the table. You're supposed to use the red side up to stop the food from coming, I didn't see much need for that end. The salad bar is amazing with artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, salmon and wide array of really fresh greens and unusual versions of dressings. You might want to go easy on the salad bar because the meat is so good. After salad, the very attentive staff brings you these petite rolls and palenta, the object is to stuff you with these yummy carbs so you won't eat as much meat, but you have to try it! They have an amazing wine list, especially if you like South American reds. House ribeye is my favorite! Remember, if the cut of meat coming to the table is not to your temperature ask the gaucho and he will bring it blood rare or burnt to a crisp to please you! And Here's the best part: DON'T GO THERE FOR DINNER! Go at lunch it's the exact same menu for $20 less!

October 01, 2009 - Want some meat, meat or meat? I love meat but this place can be overkill. I have been once and I don't have the desire to go back anytime soon. If you are looking for a place to take out of town guests or a new place to try, go for it. It's worth the experience.

September 01, 2009 - Went there with my husband who loves lamb so it was a delight for him. I loved the salad bar everything was fresh and delectable. The service is fantastic. I would recommend you go there with a empty stomach and a taste for lots of meat.

"a lot of meat -straight up" by william-hsiao (1 review)
August 18, 2009 - Doesn't like it - This is a good restaurant if you like your meat unseasoned and unmarinated -straight up. The different meats that I tried were all rather gamey. The salad bar has a huge variety but again, most items were rather blend and without flavor. The quality of food is decent but it's just not my style of dishes.

"wonderful dining experience" by Luna de Xelaju (8 reviews)
August 12, 2009 - Likes it - If you're a meat-lover, I highly recommend Fogo de Chao. To start off, the salad bar is among the best I've been to. My recommendation regarding the meat: pace yourself. It's easy to say yes to everything as it comes and end up with a pile of meat on your plate that you will eventually not be able to finish. Look at the menu and decide what you want. If there's something you want that hasn't been offered to you yet, just ask for it. The less expensive meats like chicken will be offered more frequently.

"Meat the salespeople" by DSattler (46 reviews)
July 30, 2009 - Likes it - Having visited a couple of other Brazilian steakhouses in other cities, I was curious to see how this one would compare. When a friend won dinner for two at a charity auction (and his wife is a vegetarian) off we went.
His wife, actually, would have been very happy with the salad/cooked vegetable/cheese/meat (oops) bar: though not as large as some, everything was fresh and tasty (though, of course, at $46.50 for the all you can eat deal, filling up at the salad bar would be uneconomical).
The varieties of meat were excellent and, if one wasn't to our liking, another server with a different meat would be at our table within a minute. The service, in general, was superb, with staff members swooping (there is no other word) to clear plates, refill waters, help in any way.
Two caveats mar my enthusiasm:
1) You must know to ask for the Brazilian sauces. (One was chimichurri, one had a name I've forgotten.) No staffers mentioned them. (They have other steak sauces, too, but none are offered unless you know to ask for them.)
2) The servers continually up-sell. I had one drink (at $12!) and had another pushed on me by six different people. One person returned to try a second time. Coffee and dessert were the same. I turned down coffee at least five times, and we turned down at least that many requests for dessert. I'm not a tightwad, but after turning down extra (and extra cost) items repeatedly I began to feel like one.
Would I return when I was in the mood for lots of different cuts of meat? You bet. Not every cut was a winner, but servers were happy to take away the occasional fatty piece (and its attendant plate) and start you off fresh.
Oh, one other caveat: the side dishes (automatically brought to your table and included in the meal) range from excellent (Brazilian cheese puffs or muffins, which I plan to make at home) to lackluster (the potatoes). Have a couple of the cheese puffs, but skip the rest.
And when offered the garlic beef, rest assured that after eating it you'll be repelling vampires for quite awhile.

May 25, 2009 - Likes it - A must go - a great experience. It was pricey, $46.00 per person, but after about 4 pieces of filet mignon you have broken even. The salad bar is fresh and the service is top notch. there were also these little muffin things filled with melted cheese. Such a good time and overall quite the experience.

"The Best Service of My Life!" by xtina (21 reviews)
March 27, 2009 - Likes it - Eat here if you love vegetables. Eat here if you love meat. Eat here if you love wine. And if you like your servers to read your minds and remember how you like your steak cooked. They also take your coat and pull out/push in your chair. They clean your crumbs away. They chitchat about Modest Mouse. They recommend amazing cocktails.
Oh, and eat here if you love gluttony and can stand to spend a pretty penny. If you don't want to drop $50/head at dinner, go for lunch! Same menu, same all-you-can-eat upscale gluttony, but for twenty dollars less!

February 23, 2009 - Really likes it - The meat selection is great, but I beleive that the salad bar is the hidden delight. The atmosphere is unique and welcoming. Not easy on the wallet. Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars.

"Only one word to describe this place...AWESOME!" by Kirk J (1 review)
November 26, 2008 - Likes it - Service is fantastic! They have a huge salad bar that you will want to actually pass up on so you can eat all the tender meats that are being served. Simply put, you get a coaster - one side is red - the other side is green. While it is green the servers come around and will continue to serve you - chicken - tenderloin- pork- filet mignon -lamb...etc. All with their own distinct flavor. Out of 5 stars ---I would give them a 10!

"So fun" by Dana (15 reviews)
October 10, 2008 - Likes it - If you go here, do yourself a favor and don't eat at all that day!!  It's a TON of food!  We really enjoyed a recent dinner there.  The salad bar was impressive- so fresh and a very interesting variety.  The service was impeccable and the meat was as good as I had heard it was.  It's not the type of place you go often but definitely fun for a special occassion.

"Fun and Yummy!" by Jessica Lemmo (84 reviews)
April 09, 2008 - Really likes it - So after reaching out to everyone about this place we head there ourselves. I called Thursday to make reservations and was told anytime before 5:00 (they open at 4:30) and anytime after 9:00. So we were already downtown all day so we said 4:30. There weren't many open tables at 4:30. My husband and I were very lucky (at least we thought) because we got a table that is right up against their wine cellar. They offer many different varieties of wines from domestic to European to South American to Australian and Italian wines.
Instead of ordering from a traditional menu, Fogo de Chão offers a prix-fixed system where guests can sample the entire menu, or just focus on their favorite items. The menu features unlimited servings of 15 different delectable cuts of fire-roasted meats, a sumptuous buffet of gourmet salads and fresh-cut vegetables, and a variety of Brazilian side dishes. Each guest uses a two-sided disk to control the pace of their meal. The green side signals the Gaucho chefs to bring out skewers meats to carve at the table. The red side indicates a stopping point. Turning back to green lets the Gaucho chefs know to start offering the meats again. So I recommend not eating anytime soon before you come!
The salad bar was the most gourmet salad bar I have ever seen. It had some many things are it from smoked salmon, proccito, sin-dried tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, green and white asparagus and the best Caesar salad dressing I have ever had. After you sit down they explain how things work and tell you that you can go to the salad bar as many times as you want- 1 trip to taste the things was more than enough for me with everything else!
Once you turn your disc green you are in for food a plenty! They first bring side dishes of warm cheese bread, fried bananas, crispy hot polenta and seasoned mashed potatoes. The fried bananas were wonderful. Neither of us was very impressed with the mashed potatoes (they were very thing).
Then came the meat… and man let me tell you- between the 2-3 people who take care of you and the men who bring the meat around they move... they are constituently dogging each other but their wasn't one spill! Some of our favorite of the 5 different types of meat were the fillet mignon wrapped in bacon, Beef Ancho (rib-eye), and our favorite was Picanha (sirloin seasoned with sea alt or garlic).
Overall we extremely enjoyed ourselves even though we were full to the brim! If you are against buffet and all you can eat places this is not where like those places to don't pass it up! Before we left I have the opportunity to talk to the manager. As we were talking I was blown away over a statement he said: We were joking about a service to roll you to your car and his reply was if he gave me one I would have to come back at the end of the night and get him to his car because they would have over 1,000 people in that night!
So save your pennies ($45 a person for dinner w/out drinks) and GO!
