"Not like I LOVE it"

September 02, 2009 - Really likes it - As a huge sushi fan, Virago is AMAMZING. The firecrunch, godzilla, and aloha rolls are just rediculously good for your soul! And the kiwi-cucumber cocktail is out of this world- light, refreshing, and you cannot just have one! |

"Love the food, hate the atmosphere"

September 15, 2008 - Likes it - Virago has, hands-down, the best non-traditional sushi in Nashville. Their emphasis is not on your run-of-the-mill Cali rolls and crunchy shrimp, but on innovative and original fusion creations that you're not likely to find anywhere else. Plenty of fresh creations abound that will keep even the most jaded sushi connoisseur from being bored. That said, the atmosphere and crowd here are the pits. The restaurant is usually overly dim, overly crowded, overly slow. While the food is WORTH the wait, that doesn't make the wait any more reasonable or explicable. The crowd itself is typically pretentious enough to make any given spot in Hillsboro Village seem down to earth and laid back. (As my partner puts it, you walk into Virago, and the place absolutely REEKS of credit card debt.)The bottom line is that Virago is DEFINITELY worth checking out, but go on a night that's NOT a normal hit-the-town evening to avoid the mob. 4 people like this review Recommend |
