October 20, 2009 - Doesn't like it - Good food, relatively high price, poor service - had the chicken kabob sandwich - I want to know what they used for the pickles. Met Ali, the owner- he looks like a native Utahn - is his accent real? All-in-all a great guy. |

"Mazza is d.licious!"

September 05, 2009 - Really likes it - Mazza is definitely a "regular" for us, because we know when we go there it will be good. This is a great place to take friends, the food is always delicious and the service is so friendly. I would recommend 15th & 15th location over the 9th & 9th location, but there might be less of a wait time at 9th. When you are short on time and can't afford the wait, call ahead and get it to go. |

"saturday lunch, intimate, and delicious."

September 01, 2009 - Likes it - When my parents came into town and asked about this place, I was instantly curious. I was ready to throw my new found veganism out the window, so I could fully indulge... but I was even happier, when most of my middle eastern favorites were vegan anyway! The sampler dish could be the best idea. The BABA GANOOJ, and the MUHAMARA made my meal. The pita is a bit dry compared to some other kinds I've enjoyed... but fine once you eat it with the above. The red lentil soup was a thinner version of one of my favorites from an Upstate New York Turkish place. The falafel sandwich was ok, but I'm still getting used to eating without loads of tzatziki (cucumber yoghurt sauce). I think, I'm going to try something else next time. They have Turkish coffee, and next visit, I'll get some baklawa. The wait staff, was very patient with indecision, and we must have picked the right time, because it wasn't too busy, and we took our time. |

"Best Lebanese in town"
by Jessica

August 17, 2009 - Really likes it - Mazza is one of my favorite Lebanese restaurants in the city. They are fairly authentic. I highly recommend trying their Kafta sandwich, Lamb Sausage sandwich, Tabbooleh, and Pita with Zattar. Wash it all down with their fresh made lime-aid. Yum! |

July 30, 2009 - Doesn't like it - Mazza is the best Middle Eastern food in SLC, but that doesn't mean it's fantastic. I've had much better falafel in other cities for half the price. The fries are fantastic and the garlic sause that comes with the falafel sandwich is really good. Hummus has little flavor. The bottom line is that I really want to like this food. I just can't help comparing it to the real deal. I keep going back but I always leave disappointed. |

"A change is needed"

July 27, 2009 - Doesn't like it - I know I am committing blasphemy by saying this, but Mazza is just okay. The food is not bad, actually it is quite tasty, but there are little things that add up to make a bad experience. This location is busy, too busy usually. Now I have waited 3 hours before to get a great meal, and if Mazza was up to that level it would be okay. But sadly, it really is not "that" great. The price you pay is out of line for pretty much everything but a sandwich here. I hate to say I don't like it, but Mazza needs to make some changes. I would love to go back and enjoy their food again, and I would hate Salt Lake to be missing out on good Middle-Eastern food. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

"One of the best in SLC"
by Zoe

July 22, 2009 - Really likes it - I recently moved back to Salt Lake from Phoenix (which has a surprising number of great restaurants) and was not looking forward to the culinary scene in SLC. However, Mazza made the move much more bearable. This is one of the very best restaurants in SLC and beats any Middle Eastern restaurant I tried in Phoenix. The flavors are rich and strong but not overpowering. Everything I have ordered here has been superb - especially the hummus and the spring tomato bulgur (which sounded weird but I tried it on the recommendation of the server and have ordered it many times since). The only problem with the restaurant is its popularity. Trying to go to either location on a weekend night is likely to be a frustrating experience, and the fact that they don't take reservations doesn't make it any better. But don't be put off! If you do get in - which is much easier for lunch and on weekdays - you will have one of the best meals you can find in SLC. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

"A different kind of food"

July 21, 2009 - Really likes it - This place serves mediterranean/middle eat cuisine. This restaurant has so many options it may be difficult to on what to choose. If you're new to restaurant I recommend the appetizer sampler plate where you can order 3-4 appetizers as your meal. They're all very good and flavorful, but I really enjoy the potatoe harra, baba ganooj, the house salad, and the mujudarra. However whatever you get it will be good. I perfer the location on 15th east especially when you can sit on the patio. It does get very busy friday and saturday nights and they don't take reservations unfortunately. |

May 13, 2009 - Likes it - Great food, reasonably priced, fairly fast, and a cozy interior. What more could you want? Visit the King's English and stop at Mazza for lunch. Dinner might be a bit of a wait because it is small. FWIW, the 9th and 9th Mazza location does not seem to have the same atmosphere. |

"Really bad service"
by reganhollady

April 20, 2009 - Doesn't like it - Went to the Mazza's at 9th and 9th in Salt Lake to celebrate the last night of a language course. The waitress rushed us right from the beginning, pressing us to move along from the moment we sat down. The moment we finished eating she brought the bill, pressing us to pay right away. As soon as she got her tip she asked us to leave, saying she needed our table for an incoming party. After leaving, we stood outside the restaurant talking for 20 minutes and could see our table sitting there empty. We were there for two hours, 10 minutes and spent $280 with tip. We were a well behaved group--a doctor, a lawyer, a researcher, a teacher--widely traveled people who've never been treated that way by a restaurant before. I haven't gone back to Mazza's since then and wouldn't. |

"I could eat here every day"

March 29, 2009 - Likes it - So, it is fair to say I am obsessed with the food at Mazza. I have tried a lot of middle eastern food in Utah and in other states and countries and it just never holds a candle to this place! The chicken and cauliflower kabseh has got to be the best rice dish I have ever had, the falafel is pure love, those french fries are one in a million (even though you breathe garlic for a couple days afterwards...it's totally worth it though!!) I could go on and on because EVERY dish is amazing! They also have a nice selection of Lebanese wines if that's your thing. This is in my top three favorite restaurants of all time. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

February 16, 2009 - Likes it - Mazza is such a great little jewel in the middle of Salt Lake. We're definitely the discriminating restaurant-goers, and enjoy most about Mazza-the service, entrees, wine list, environment. We just wish they a larger waiting area on busy nights and were open on sundays! |

February 11, 2009 - Likes it - Ali Sabbah is a great man and makes sure you are happy with what you ordered. The chicken kabob sandwich is one of the best in town. His French fries are a decadent fave of mine. Unlike any fries you've ever tasted. A little slow at times but no microwave to be seen. |

"Orange flower love"
by cometgirl

November 30, 2008 - Really likes it - I haven't been here in years and I still lust after their special tea with orange flower sweetener. Oh the fattoush salad and three kinds of baklava. This is reason enough to fly straight to SLC. It's on your way to PC coming from the airport (kind of - SLC is a super easy city to navigate). This will make the trip up the pass so so much better. |

September 21, 2008 - Likes it - Mazza is right in the heart of the Suger House neighborhood on 15th & 15th. Nothing too fancy but the food is very good. THe Chicken and Vela Kabob are fantastic. expect to wait for a table. |
