"What happened?"

February 06, 2010 - Doesn't like it - This USED to be my favorite restaurant, the steak was unbeatable, the service outstanding, and then everything seemed to take a huge PLUMMET. The past two times I have been here my filet minon was burnt and the sides were charred. If a person pays that much for a filet minon and doesn't even ask for it well done (which by the way is NO excuse for it to be completely overcooked) and it comes out charred, overcooked, and tastes like ashes there is something seriously wrong. This place has always been outrageously expensive, but still a place I would go because the food was great and it was a beautiful atmosphere. Now, that I have been there and two times in a row they have destroyed perfectly capable steak I will be hesitant to return. 3 strikes your out, you have one strike left Sullivans. But, I will give you this. The Wedge, although also ridiculously expensive, is STILL delicious, but not worth the trip. |

January 19, 2010 - Likes it - We went for my birthday dinner and it was wonderful! Salads were huge, steaks were cooked perfectly and delicious, the creamed spinach is almost too good to be true!! Nice wine list also, tried a new Napa Cab and it was really, really nice. Would definitely go again!! |

January 17, 2010 - Doesn't like it - Unimpressed, is about all I can really say about Sullivan's. I've tried the place three times now, and the last two times were just to see if I just had an inexperienced cook. I had the steak twice and the lamb chops on the last try. All of them were over cooked and burnt. I'm not mistaking grill marks for burnt here, I'm saying the meat had a nice even coating of black crust. More so on the lamb chops, which is just appalling. I will say the restaraunt looks nice, and while the price of the food isn't worth it, the band makes up for it. |

January 06, 2010 - Likes it - STEAK!!!Yes the wedge is $5.00. You are at Sullivans. Price is in accordance with the rest of the menu. The lettuce and tomats are fresh, blue cheese is right in proportion, dressing is spot on. I prommise you this, I dont go to Sullys for a friggin wedge! (yes, I do get it when I go but thats not WHY I go). PORTERHOUSE AS BIG AS MY HEAD.Lightly seasoned HIGH GRADE BEEF, cooked the way that I requested. Thats why I go. It sounds like a simple thing and in fact, is simple. Problem is, not many a steak joint can pull them ALL off consistantly. Sullivans has been able to deliver ALL the goods, EVERY TIME I have gone. The attention that is given by the staff has been top notch for a steak house. The manager stops by my table for a quick visit when my wife and I go in. I am made to feel like I own the place. I feel like I am in a Mafia run joint in old Cicago and they think that I am the Bosses nephew. My wife and I love the place and save it for the special occasions. She has The Filet, a few drinks, and a diner salad, I have the Porterhouse and a wedge. We split the asparagus, no room for desert.$120.00 w/o the tip.My favorite spot in Anchorage. |

October 29, 2009 - Doesn't like it - a wedge of iceberg lettuce for 5 bucks, what's going on, a simply prepared tenderloin for $ 40, and servers who seemed not too interested in serving. some like it i hear, but we found it cold, spendy, and we did like the piano and singer. best part of the evening... |

July 31, 2009 - Doesn't like it - My husband and I were humiliated and insulted by the manager there. Our two year old daughter was with us and she was laughing. The manager came up to us and told us either shut the kid up or get out. I have never been so disrespected at a restaurant before. Before we entered we asked if children are allowed. The waitress even complimented us on how well behaved our child was. The manager has no people skills and was very rude. It was a very embarrassing experience, while the manager was insulting us. |

July 17, 2009 - Doesn't like it - Overpriced, pretentious, and snobby. How about adding some beers to your selection? It's nice that you have such a large wine list, but not everybody drinks that grape swill. Lunch shouldn't take an hour and a half when you only order an appetizer. They really emphasize the "wait" in "waitstaff". Not busy, just busy gossiping. Save yourself the aggravation and go to Club Paris across the street. |

"Best Anchorage Steakhouse"

July 05, 2009 - Sullivans is a lively steakhouse where we mingled with locals, tourists and conventioneers. This restaurant was recommended by many people. Good service steaks and chops. Wedge of iceberg lettuce and their signature blue cheese dressing was massive. We had a glass of wine, beer, salad, steak and dessert for $85. It was pricey but well worth it. The desserts are a great , too. Reservations aren't required . |

March 20, 2009 - Likes it - I enjoyed a very tasty steak oscar in early January while dining with 4 lovely women. My steak was cooked perfeclty and everyone else in the group raved about there steaks too. I have dined at many of the top steak and chop house around the country (St. Elmos, Donovans, Herford House etc.)and would rate Sullivan just a step below. Very attentive wait staff and surprisingly delicious creamed spinach. |

October 02, 2008 - Likes it - This place is nice and they charge you for it. If your having to eat on a budget, STAY AWAY. With that said, if you like some serious wine $$ and great steak and seafood, stop by. I really like the bar and the band starts around 7PM. When I've gone the band played some nice jazz music. But the big thing is for romance on Valentine's Day they usually have an awesome setup. A special V-Day menu. |
