"Like it, but..."

January 15, 2010 - Likes it - My wife and I both like this place. We both have our favorite dishes (mine--lasagne, wife's--stuffed shrimp). The service is slow, but we like the wait staff. As anyone who's been there knows, you don't want to see it with good lighting (scary!), but we're okay with it. Our only complaint is with the Owner/Manager. Major attitude problem and NOT customer friendly. |

January 12, 2010 - Really likes it - The best italian/european food I have ever had and for a GREAT price. The alfredo sauce was delicious... The red sauce was delicious... the bread was delicious. Not the best place for kids but my 2 year old enjoyed it anyways. We will definitely be going back here! |

"Local Place"

January 04, 2010 - Likes it - Pinetta's is a great Italian "date" restaurant- boasting dim lighting in a small intimate atmosphere. The "hole in the wall" charm makes this restaurant a great get away from the busy Baton Rouge life. It's frequented by locals but getting a table is usually painless. Unfortunately, the service is slow and spotty and the food is "good," but not amazing. Pinetta's does not offer any substitutions or variations on their menu items, so, come prepared to order "as is." |

"Great Place/Great Atmosphere/So many memories"

July 25, 2009 - Likes it - I remember Pinetta's from the 70's when I was a student at LSU. It was a great dive - dark and mysterious - where you could get great food and drink. The lasagna was to die for! Fast foreward to the present. Pinetta's has died and been resurected. The original owners were from the old country. They decided to retire and and closed the restaruant. Baton Rouge and former patrons mourned the closing but low and behold, driving by several years ago what should I see? Pinetta's open for business. We stoped by after an LSU game and went inside. The inside was still dark and mysterious (cleaner but still dark). I checked the menu and saw many of my old favoites. I had to order the lasagna. It was like I remember - delicious! I have since tried many of the other items on the menu, all of which are very good. My favorite remains the lasagna. It is to die for.Long live Pinetta's 2 people like this review Recommend |

"Dark and Interesting"

July 09, 2009 - Likes it - Pinetta's is a dark little hole in the wall with maybe 15 tables or so. Chianti bottles are hanging on all the walls and the menu features items I haven't seen anywhere else in Baton Rouge. The flavors of everything I tried were very interesting and I found the restaurant as a whole to be unique. The service was great and the staff were very knowledgeable about the offerings. The chocolate tiramisu is an absolute must. |

"Best Ravioli Ever!"
by Rachel E.

May 21, 2009 - Likes it - Pinetta's has the best spinach ravioli I've ever had. The pollo ravioli is also fantastic. The red sauce is amazing. I've been to Pinetta's many many times and have only had one bad experience. I was told that they had hired a new chef so I let that one slide. The only downfall is they don't always have the spinach ravioli and now that their popularity is growing there is usually a wait on Friday and Saturday nights. I haven't tried any of the German dishes yet. I guess one day I'll need to venture out. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

March 18, 2009 - Likes it - Looking for something really good and different? Try the German Sauerbratin, it's excellent. Pinetta's is a quaint neiborhood style European bistro serving German, Turkish, Italian and other great types of food, featuring items you won't find anywhere else in the city. The restarant has a great atmosphere, and is dimly lit. The food and sauces are really good, and most dishes are served in black iron skillets. Some dishes take a while to prepare, but it's worth the wait. This is a must try if you enjoy European dishes. The eggplant parmesan is another favorite. 4 people like this review Recommend |

"Great red sauce"

March 15, 2009 - Likes it - Great sauce if you are into red sauces that are stewed for a long time as opposed to a fresh chunky marinara and are not overly sweetened. This sauce simmers for a day or so in the kitchen and is then spooned over the dish of your choice and served in small black iron skillets. Any of the dishes served with this sauce is a winner. Also, they have some of the coldest draft beer in town and it has a great atmosphere for a first date or 50th. 2 people like this review Recommend |
