October 17, 2009 - Likes it - As all the reviewers note, this is a place for meat-15 different cuts of steak, chicken, pork and lamb. Never saw a price anywhere until bill came ($49.50 per person for dinner). It was fun and the meat was outstanding. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

"Lovely salad bar"
by Kenneth L.
(124 reviews)
July 23, 2009 - Likes it - If you're a meat lover, the steaks here will fill you appetite; if you're a vegetarian, the salad bar will keep you satisfied. It's revolutionary to open a salad bar inside the steakhouse and I find it very lovely. There's unlimited meat, I ate until I couldn't take another bite. |

"Fantastic!"

July 20, 2009 - Likes it - Wow, This is what a salad bar is supposed to be! My freinds took me here for dinner one evening and told me they have an amazing salad bar and an unending source of meat, lol. Ok, I realy don't like salad bars, but I low carb and LOVE meat, period. I am a new lover of the salad bar, this salad bar, not your iceberg lovin' , crappy salad bars of the 70's. I was totally and completely converted. Almost too full to enjoy the endless men with meat! Almost...Wonderful food, fantastic salad bar, don't fill up there, cause the fried plantains and bread are wonderful as well. A must do! |

"The food was excellent the service was strange"

May 19, 2009 - We went to Fogo de Chao based on Urban spoon after my son's college graduation. The girl at the front was just weird. She kept asking my husband "if he could behave?" I thought she was joking until she turned to me and asked me the same question. I assured he would and she let us in. We travel extensively and this was a first. Other than that it was a great experience definitely a carnivorous man's type of place. My husband and son loved the place. Wish it would open in Honolulu |

"Quite excellent, but pricey"

April 23, 2009 - Likes it - I cannot begin to describe the food, because there was so much of it. The salad bar had everything you would expect a salad bar in the afterlife to have, the good kind, and is 17 miles long. Service was easy, you leave the flag up and they come by with every sort of grilled, skewered meat that they have and put it on your plate. Each type was smoky goodness that makes vegetarians cry. This all said, it's gonna cost you. And it's worth it, just not too often. To give you an example, I think it was 21 bucks for an appletini. Eat here tonight and you won't have to eat for the next two days, at least. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

March 25, 2009 - Likes it - This, so far, is my favorite restaurant in DC. The salad bar was excellent, as was the service. The meat....oh the meat, was superb! The most flavorful succulent steak, chicken, lamb, & filet mignon I have ever had, outside of my fathers summer bar-b-ques. It was a beautiful experience :-) |

"Great birthday dinner"

March 17, 2009 - Likes it - I went during the week so maybe the service isn't normally this good, but we had incredible service. I really liked the food but it should be this good at $50/head. The cuts are very good and all but one of my choices were excellent (the other one was probably good normally mine was just overcooked). I was super impressed with the service. My wife really loved the "salad" bar (as did I for the 2 grams of non-meat I ate). Dessert was just OK, but I'd be back in a heartbeat. I can't imagine a better place to go with a decent sized group. Perfect spot for credit card roulette also!We didn't order wine, but the cocktails were excellent.La Strada in Del Ray is only recent experience I've had that was better (or comparable). 2 people like this review Recommend |

"Meat lovers paradise"
by Mike Landers

December 23, 2008 - Really likes it - I had the opportunity to visit Fogo de Chao with friends on the coldest day of winter 2008 so far for the season. Even though it was cold outside, fogo's sizzling hot meat quickly warmed us up. The highlight of the restaurant is the hot sizzling meat and excellent service.Brazilian based, each diner is issued a two sided disk, red on one side, green on the other. When the diner is ready for meat, flip to green and get ready to be visited by a team of wait staff with numerous cuts of meat. Filet, sirloin, chicken, lamp, sausage, and several other meats. A decent all you can eat salad bar is also included, with a moderate selection of veggies, cheese and sides.Drinks from the back bar are made quickly, prices are what you would expect for an upscale restaurant.Reservations almost a must fri., sat., and sun. Other days it can be busy but possible. Open 11:30 to 2:30 and then reopens at 5:30. Last seating for lunch is 2:30, although I would highly recommend not going near closing. The best time to experience this restaurant is during a busy time, the kitchen and staff are at their best.Upon arriving, 3 sides are brought to table (mashed p., fried bananas, and some rectangle thingies), plus yorksher puddings. Great sides, except the mashed, which were cold on both servings.Large or small groups possible. Jerry, from some DC law firm, got employee of the year award, from his 20 plus colleagues.Pluses: hot sizzling meat every time, service top notch. Fast drinks from the back bar. Nice ambience. Lamb chops.Negative: cold mashed potatoes.Overall, don't miss this restaurant, one of DC's best. 8 people like this review Recommend |
