"Great Food, No Crowds"

May 27, 2008 - Likes it - Take it from me, Pho Truc's food stacks up against the very best Vietnamese that you have ever had. I've had plenty, and this place does it right! The portions are huge...start by ordering the 'small', in all likelihood you will probably regret ordering 'large'.My litmus test of a good Vietnamese restaurant is their cha gio (spring rolls of the fried variety); if the spring roll is not up to par, then I don't expect much forthcoming from the kitchen for the rest of the meal....Pho Truc's are Grade A, I've had a few that were as good, but none better.I've eaten several of the traditional beef soups, the beef stew (traditionally served with a foot-long roll for dipping into the savory broth), the curry chicken stew with sweet potato (yum factor '10'), the rice dishes (perfectly-cooked rice, sticky and fragrantly sweet tasting to accent the grilled pork, shrimp and pan-fried egg that accompanies many of the varieties. What can I say...it's all good! This is about as 'off the beaten path' as you can get, but if you're a foodie and find yourself anywhere near East Ponce and Montreal/Indian Springs...RUN, don't walk. You'll be glad you did. |
