"Who Knew!"

March 18, 2010 - Likes it - So... we were suppose to go to South City Kitchen but did not realize that they closed at 3:30p on Sunday's. Our friends suggested we go down the street to Vickery's... I was NOT happy.... UNTIL the food came!!! OMG! You walk up to the seemingly teeny tiny building with the overcrowded patio and gaudy decorations and you think "Oh HELL No!" then you walk inside and almost choke on the cigar smoke as you look around the tiny bar area and think " Are You SERIOUS?"!!! You then proceed though the door behind the bar into the quaint Little House On The Prairie-esque dining room with the crackling fireplace sitting in the middle of the room. The Tables aren't but "that (snap fingers) big" but they're comfortable. The server's disposition left a lot to be desired but when the food came...... OMG!!!!!! DEE-LISH-SHUSH!!!!!!!!!!! Every Morsel was silky and seasoned to perfection!!!! After I finished my meal... I wanted to do it again!!! |

February 27, 2009 - Likes it - We've been to Vickery's Glenwood Park several times -- for lunch and dinner -- and it's always delightful on all counts. Great menu, great food -- the burgers are perfect and the ribs are yum and appetizers are really tasty. All of us liked everything we ordered. Inside, it's very cool-looking and really comfortable. The staff is especially nice. Ditto the whole vibe. Guaranteed good mood! Fun neighborhood. Outside, the tables are in a uniquely great spot -- across from a little park and lawn for bocce ball! Will definitely be returning. |

February 21, 2009 - Doesn't like it - This place is ridiculous and customer service etiquette challenged. We were rushed by our waitstaff and the food was mediocre. The parking was a rip off on top of everything else. Overall it was totally worth it to be important because I was here. I really felt special. 1 person likes this review Recommend |

"Great Find"

January 06, 2009 - Likes it - This place is just right! Great food, friendly service, moderate prices, and wonderful atmosphere. The decor is both funky and slightly upscale at the same time, and it has the feel of a true neighborhood hang-out (even if you aren't from the neighborhood, you feel like you are). The menu is varied enough to find whatever you are in the mood for, and it is ALL good. My personal favorite is the burgundy braised short ribs (YUM!) My sister's favorite though is the caesar salad with grilled chicken, and my husbands is the low country grits with crawfish, shrimp, and crabmeat. I also highly recommend hanging out at the bar- it is friendly and conducive to meeting really nice people. Go there- you won't be disappointed! |

"GREAT FOOD, GREAT PEOPLE"

January 05, 2009 - Likes it - I've never walked in to this latest incarnation of Vickery’s (the original is in midtown and there's two more in Charleston SC) without catching an immediate vibe of great food, energy, and fun people. It has a neighborhood feel about it with an up-scale—but not 'chi-chi'—atmosphere.The food s great, original, unpretentious with a South Carolina low country kick to it. Try the Low Country Grits with Crawfish Tails, Shrimp, Lump Crabmeat and Andouille Sausage; this stuff will will have you tawkin lak Forrest Gump aftah the secund baht. And the bar is the kinda place where you can plop down with a Sunday edition of the New York Times and nurse a beer or two for as long as you want. The editorial section is a lot more comprehendable with a plate of fried calamari (try this twice in one month and you'll feel like a 'regular'....Yep, the bar staff is THAT friendly.)I recommend you take a short drive over to Glenwood and give this place a spin—especially if you need a place to unwind. |
