Pho Cyclo Cafe
"Fast, okay Vietnamese"
March 26, 2007 - It's alright..nothing great, but good for a quick noodle bowl on Broadway.  Fun interior is made to look like you're eating in a cobblestone street courtyard.  Don't get pho here, go up the block to Than Brothers.

Seattle Deli
"Quick authentic Vietanamese to go"
March 26, 2007 - Try it, you'll like it.  Best sandwiches around.  Get BBQ beef, it's the best one.  But be sure to stand your ground in line :-)

Tamarind Tree
"Best Vietnamese in Seattle"
March 26, 2007 - Picture good, authentic Vietnamese cuisine.  Now swap the expected white flourescents for candles and rich colored walls, swap the rickety tables for a waterfall patio, swap the impatient guy for black-clad waiters, and you get the picture of Tamarind Tree.  Absolutely amazing food.  Fast fast service.  And the price stays below $10 for most entrees.  Amazing.

World Wrapps (Queen Anne)
"Quick, healthy lunch"
March 26, 2007 - This is such a great spot for lunch or light dinner, I don't know why it doesn't get good ratings.  Healthy, filling wraps in more-than-standard combinations (tequila-lime shrimp, sole with mango chutney, etc).  Good smoothies too...no phlegm inducing yogurt.

Uptown China Restaurant
"ID has nothing on Uptown"
March 26, 2007 - This is the best Chinese in Seattle.  No deep fried nuggets of mystery meat here.  Large menu, quick service, nice atmosphere, and really great food.  They deliver in the area for orders over $20.  Do yourself a favor..

Sam's Sushi Bar & Grill
"Mediocre"
March 26, 2007 - Skip on past.  There's fantastic sushi at Shiki's just 1 more block up the street.  Sushi and other entrees here are only mediocre.

Perche No
"Cute"
March 26, 2007 - It's a cute little place with many loyal regulars.  Very good, very affordable Italian.  They will also pick you up from your hotel.  A Chinese couple makes Italian food while someone plays the piano.  It's true, it's good, it works.

Nielsen's Pastry
"I miss it so much!"
March 26, 2007 - If you are in the area during the day, do yourself a favor and stop by this hard-to-find Danish bakery.  Truly wonderful pastries and extremely friendly staff (they are all related).  You honestly don't know what a Danish should taste like until you've been here.

Mojito Cafe
"Vibrant and fun"
March 26, 2007 - A fun space...very noisy though.  Food is fresh and tasty and affordable.  Have a little Cuban food to mix up your weekly routine...and smile at the friendly people who run this place.

Kaspar's
"You can't eat here"
March 26, 2007 - Kaspar's is an event-only restaurant now.

Crow
"Yum!"
March 26, 2007 - Crow is fun.  Funky space and great food.  I had a bday party here and everyone raved about their dishes.  Cuisine without pretentious service or prices.

Chutneys Indian Restaurant
"Not as good as the other Chutneys"
March 26, 2007 - Grille on the Hill is far superior to the Queen Anne version.  The food here is okay.

Buckley's on Queen Anne
"Boring food, slow service"
March 26, 2007 - Many of my friends have had the same experience I have...very slow waitstaff, a little bit of attitude, and extremely mediocre food.

Boat Street Café / Boat Street Kitchen
"Expensive and just okay"
March 26, 2007 - We were so excited that Boat Street moved close to our condo.  Then we stopped by and were underwowed.  Food was salty and just okay.  Waitstaff was distracted and we sat for about 10 mins before anyone even swung by to get us water.

5 Spot
"Okay"
March 26, 2007 - Food is constantly rotating for a variety of interesting themed menus.  And they're all done...okay.  Decent brunch.

Than Brothers Restaurant (Broadway)
"Best Pho in Seattle bar none"
March 26, 2007 - Easy choice.  2 people walk out full, warm, and happy for $15.  Be sure to get iced coffee with condensed milk.  It's dark, rich, and a perfect complement to the brothy pho.  Take it from my Vietnamese boyfriend, this is the pho you want to have.

Tango
"Great pre-show spot"
March 26, 2007 - It's expensive though.  Those $10 tapas add up fast when you need 3 to fill you up.  Very delicious, great sexy space (check out the copper room).  Easy walking distance to the Paramount.

Mediterranean Kitchen Express
"Don't walk by!"
March 26, 2007 - This little place looks like nothing more than another generic gyro place crammed into the QFC retail center at Pike and Broadway, but swing in and you'll be hooked.  All manner of traditional Greek cuisine awaits, it's all garlicky, spiced, and delicious.

Chapel
"Unique drinks and atmosphere"
March 26, 2007 - Chapel can be very noisy in a crowd, but you'll find inspired, tasty, and unique drinks (pear-sage martini comes to mind).  When you're tired of mojitos, but want a bit of herb in your martini, check it out.  Decor is fun, simple, sleek.  White cubes and glowing bar.  The balconey can be fun but crowded.  It's hard to find if you don't know where it is...look for the large white building with columns and an attorney's office advertised.  Chapel is on the west side of that building up a steep flight of stairs.

B & O Espresso
"Great Seattle brunch spot"
March 26, 2007 - In the mood for sweets?  You're in the right place.  But there's much more than that.  Surprising (and delicious) options like Egyptian foul ("fool"), hummus, thai crab cake eggs benedict, etc make this a great option for brunch.  And, as many have mentioned, desserts here are fantastic.  Try the caramelo latte and the chocolate pot.

611 Supreme
"Best Brunch Bite"
March 26, 2007 - If you can stand the wait (put your name on the list and pray that people eat quickly) then this is the place to go.  The crepes are fantastic, buttery, and rich.  Great "locals" spot to take an out of town guest.

Bing's Bodacious Burgers
"Just okay"
March 07, 2007 - It's okay in a pinch.  Burgers are far from Bodacious...they are filling and moderately tasty.  There's some fairly standard combinations.  Ingredients were not particularly fresh. The price was way too high for the quality.  The buns got soggy quickly (a big no-no in my book for burgers).  We got serious attitude from the hostess when we switched tables due to a cold draft.

Simply Thai
"Best Thai on the South end...and maybe in Seattle"
December 22, 2006 - This place is fantastic...I've eaten at many a Thai restaurant and the food here is top notch.  Surprisingly good considering it's close-to-mall location.  Service is fast and friendly, and the large space and quick service guarantees a table within minutes.  Try the Panang curry, it's amazing.

Australian Pie Company
"Tasty, quick, no frills"
December 22, 2006 - For something unique, try a bite of an Aussie pie.  A single pie is just barely enough to fill you up for a nice lunch (perhaps with a Lamington...coconut covered chocolate cakey confection).  Pies are good and the store is filled with interesting Aussie imports.  It's very no frills...basic tables and paper napkins...
