Bai Pai Restaurant "Pretty good" June 26, 2008 - This is a little more upscale than your usual Thai place, but I can still take my nine month old daughter and everyone is friendly to her. The food is pretty good, nice fresh ingredients and higher quality meats than usual. The swimming rama has a great peanut sauce, and the bai pai noodles are a crowd favorite. |

Cpg (Cowan Park Grocery Cafe) "Great breakfast and lunch" March 04, 2008 - CPG serves excellent coffee (the roast comes from Cafe Umbria.) And they do a lot more! The woman who runs it is constantly changing up the food offerings, but there is always an excellent brunch on Saturday and Sunday (I mean, *really* good omelets.) And right now she also offers a full-fledged lunch menu on the weekdays. The sandwiches look great but I haven't tried them; however the salads I can vouch for, they are amazing and far beyond what you'd think to find in a little place like this. Very reasonably priced, too, for what you get. She also does a lunch-time "daily special", some interesting hot dish that could be enchiladas or a Korean rice bowl depending on her mood. This place has zero web presence right now, the only way anyone knows about it is by word-of-mouth or just walking by. It's a hidden gem and I highly recommend it. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Tenoch Mexican Grill "Great for the wheat-allergic" February 24, 2008 - Everything you can get in a burrito here (and it's a lot of good stuff) you can also get in a bowl, sans flour tortilla. It's a nice break from the normal taco/enchilada rotation I have at most Mexican restaurants. Also, their fish tacos are fantastic. They saute the fish fresh every time, no gross flour breading. So good. |

Tilth "outstanding food, terrible acoustics" May 23, 2007 - I used to go to this restaurant all the time when it was Mandalay Cafe. I miss the old offerings of Laksa, steamed mussels, etc, but the new food is really creative and fantastic. However, one thing they did wrong: they replaced some of the (wood?) floor with tile. It looks great, but the formerly quiet and intimate atmosphere is now LOUD. I had to practically shout to converse with my husband, and it's not the like the other tables were being particularly rowdy. Everyone was just doing their best to have a normal conversation. |

Osaka Sushi "creepy service" February 08, 2007 - After several sub-par experiences, I convinced myself to try Osaka again after it expanded into the shop next door. What an experience. Although the restaurant was not full, they seemed completely overwhelmed and could not manage to take orders or prepare food with anything resembling professionalism. It took over an hour and a half to get our food We thought of leaving, but after watching the proprietor nearly physically assault another couple who tried it, all but dragging them back to their table, we decided to stick it out and just never, ever go back. |

Pho Bac III "spoiled me for all other pho" February 08, 2007 - Something about the broth is so addictive, if I don't get it once a week I start *craving* it. Also they bring me 4 limes every time, without my needing to ask. |

Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant "Bland" November 20, 2006 - I used to live in Morocco, and I cook Moroccan food a lot for myself. It's the best cuisine in the world, bar none. And that's why this place was such a disappointment! The cafeteria style menu was domniated by heavy, mildly spiced meat dishes that bore only a thin resemblance to the Moroccan originals. The atmosphere was kind of fun, and the tea and soup were good, but I would not go back. |

Cafe Maree "organic coffee" October 31, 2006 - It's one block further away from Greenlake than the chains, Starbucks and Peet's. Make the walk! |

Krittika Noodles & Thai Cuisine "best phad thai in the city" October 31, 2006 - The veg spring rolls are also amazing. |

World Beat Cafe "Closed!" October 26, 2006 - This place was great, but it's been gone for about two years. |

Hot Dish "Good brunch" October 26, 2006 - They made the best hashbrowns I've had anywhere--crispy on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth potato goodness inside. The outdoor area in the back is really pleasant on nice days. Dinner is also good, but heavy--make sure you're in the mood for comfort food when you go. I wish there was more than on wheat-free option on the dinner menu though. |
