All-Purpose Pizza & Ale
"Super Fun for Kids"
January 03, 2007 - Great mini-kitchen area for kids to play with pizza dough.  Kid's busy, TVs and beer, what's not to like? Oh yeah, pizza's decent, too.

Las Margaritas
"Fun Place"
January 03, 2007 - This joint has a fun staff.  Great cheap alternative for a place to meet up before a show.

Sorellas
"Solid American-Style Italian Food"
January 03, 2007 - It ain't Italy, but it is cheap, tasty and plentiful.  Great location as well.  Good for kids.

Kidd Valley Burgers & Shakes
"Yummy Burgers and Nary a Table"
January 03, 2007 - This place has great burgers, shakes, and my favorite the fish sandwich (it's real fish).  Note there is only bar seating inside so plan on take out.

Etta's Seafood
"Service is Fishy"
January 03, 2007 - This has to be the most consistently pretentious staffed restaurant in Seattle.  After my third visit there and having, yet again, a rude waiter, I've written this place off.   Arrogance ruins my appetite.  Even the uberexpensive culinary shining star in Seattle, Canlis, manages to have a staff that is gracious, professional and friendly.   Take lessons Flying Fish.

22 Doors
"Bloody Hell, These are Good!"
January 03, 2007 - Best Bloody Marys ever!  Like a refreshing little salad in a glass.  A great drink with bits of ginger and and just the right kick.  They are not stingy with the veggies on top either.  I won't be able to make Bloody Marys at home until I break into 22 Doors under cover of sunlight (hey, they are busy at night) and steal this recipe for my own personal use.  Plus they have truffle shoestring fries.  'Nuf said.

Icon Cofee
"Organic and Tasty - Who Knew?"
January 03, 2007 - This place has a great neighborhood feel.  The organic coffee is actually quite good.  I lived in Italy for a spell, so I don't care how many pesticides it doesn't have in it, it still better taste good.  This place does it right.  Very friendly staff.

Fremont Classic Pizzeria & Trattoria
"Always Back to the Pizza Montrachet"
January 03, 2007 - We have been eating here for years.  We have tried many things on the menu.  We are happiest when we order the Pizza Montrachet.  It has goat cheese, artichoke hearts, and sundried tomatoes.  Their calamari, breaded and served in strips, is yummy with a killer aoili sauce (make sure everyone at the table eats it or your companions will be avoiding you).

Claire's Pantry (Lake City)
"Great Old School Breakfasts"
January 03, 2007 - Claire's has a lot of dark paneling and looks a bit dated.  Luckily, their breakfasts are as well.  They serve traditional grated hashbrowns and carbs aplenty.  Woo hoo.  It's all prepared with just the right amount of grease too.  Honestly, not fancy but delicious and plentiful.  Awesome value.

611 Supreme
"Cool, Hip and French - Mais Oui!"
January 03, 2007 - This is one of the best values in Seattle.  The food is decent (quite tasty, actually) and the vibe is cool.  For under $50 (w/tip and taxes) for two, we usually split the foie gras (which comes with a small salad and bread) and a half carafe of house wine (two glasses each).  Then we each order our own substantial dinner crepe (stick with the traditional) and split a dessert crepe.  All this is served in a cool exposed brick room with candles on the tables.  The tattooed and pierced waiters are all very professional and give me that "unpretentious city vibe" I love.

Bagel Deli
"Drippy Deliciousness"
January 02, 2007 - The "Brooklyn" is a delicious bagel sandwich.  It has pastrami, cheese, sauerkraut, and some kind of russian-type dressing/"secret sauce".  They heat it up and it is tasty, drippy goodness.  It can be a bit messy to eat, so I recommend not trying to eat this on the run.   The Bagel Deli also serves fresh-squeezed lemonade which is always a nice touch.

B & O Espresso
"Let Us Eat Cake!!"
January 02, 2007 - The B & O has been a staple for me for decades.  They have my favorite Devil's Food Cake in all of Seattle.  My best friend and partner in late night dessert swears by the German Chocolate Cake.  We settled on these favorites over 20 yrs ago.  The only thing that has changed throughout the years of late night yumminess is that we now have to order decaf coffee.  Sigh.
