Durgin-Park
"Durgin Park"
July 26, 2007 - It doesn't get much more old-school than Durgin Park.  Indeed, this place is "Boston for the seafarer" par excellence.  The food is unabashed, New England grub, the kitchen is always boisterous, and like clockwork, everything from the taste to the atmosphere trucks on without fail.  Definitely a solid and unpretentious dinner mainstay.

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria
"Lou Malnati's"
July 26, 2007 - This place is a no-frills pizza joint in Lincoln Park offering some of the best American-Italian food in the city.  Start off with a local micro-brew and some of their cheesy garlic bread.  For mains, the sky's the limit.  Obviously, if you want the best, deep-dish is the way to go.

Carnelian Room
"Carnelian Room"
July 26, 2007 - I haven't been for the food (it's probably overpriced), but the view is worth every penny you'll shell out for sipping a few expensive drinks overlooking the bay.  Indoubitably, this place must offer one of the best panoramas of any restaurant on the West Coast.  Go on a summer night and you can catch the evening fog as it creeps slowly but surely across the city skyline

Mario's Bohemian Cigar Store Cafe
"Mario's"
July 26, 2007 - I may have a penchant for hyperbole, but when it comes to Mario's, my statements are simply in keeping with reviews from just about anyone who has been blessed to sample this tiny restaurant's take on the focaccia sandwhich.  Go here for lunch and order one.  You will not be disappointed.  This place is one of the best sandwich stops in America.

Rose Pistola
"Rose Pistola"
July 26, 2007 - Wedged in among a bevy of North Beach Italian restaurants, this place stands out as one of the best.  The food is excellent, the bar is very inviting, and the decor inspires a sense of refined trendiness which proves hard to resist.

Zuni Cafe
"Zuni Cafe"
July 26, 2007 - Zuni Cafe is set-up as a labrynthine warren of neatly presented rooms, all boasting a rustic, Mediterranean-esque feel.  The place is deceptively large--and that's a good thing for people hoping to get a table.  Put simply, this SF mainstay is one of the best restaurants in the Bay area.  The staff works hard (a good sign), the menu offers a host of Med, French, and Greek-themed dishes which hit the spot, and as a key little aside, the warm, pre-meal bread is soul-soothing.  Zuni is one of the best.

"Definitely on point"
July 26, 2007 - This place is a brimming, trendy Italian joint with a narrowly designed space opening up into a naturally lit dining room in the back.  The wine list is extensive, and the staff, much like the restaurant's up-and-coming chef, works assiduously to make sure your experience is exceptional.  Try the thinly crusted pizza.  Their homemade pasta is close to perfection.
