China Village Restaurant "good chinese food" March 25, 2008 - I eat lunch here a couple of times a month- I'm not sure how authentic it is having never been to China, but it's very tasty and has NEVER made me ill. The restaurant is family run and the service is always prompt. Tony (which I don't think is his real name) is nearly always our waiter and remembers our names and the several dishes that we typically order and is super friendly. Definitely recommended- a little gem on Sand Point Way. |

Walter's Cafe ""the scoop"" January 28, 2008 - This place is better known as The Scoop @ Walters- excellent ice cream (snoqualmie, i think). Get the kids scoop if you're not into a lot of ice-cream; it's plenty and cheaper. Really nice folks here- it feels like a real neighborhood place nestled between rain city video and an old-fashioned barbershop. Plus, there's usually cool art on the wall and they special order this banana ice cream that nobody but my wife likes. 2 thumbs up. |

Ben & Jerry's (Ballard) "i like ice cream" January 28, 2008 - but it makes me fat. plus it's expensive here. Skip Ben & Jerry's and head up to the Scoop @ Walters (65th and 32nd)! |

Thai Kitchen (Queen Anne) "i like thai kitchen" January 02, 2008 - whenever i'm in Queen Anne and feel like eating thai food- i head out here. The people are friendly and the food is very good. It's not Thai One On (lake city way), but it's still very very good. VERY interesting that this is the only restaurant with a scanned menu... hmmm... is there some special importance that this restaurant has for the Urbanspooners? Perhaps this is the best thai restaurant in town? 5 people like this review - Recommend |

Zagi's Pizza Ristorante "best pizza in seattle" January 02, 2008 - sounds cliche, right? But it's true. If you're into deep dish so-called "chicago style" gut bomb pizza- look elsewhere. Zagi's pizza is a thin crust, not too greasy, fresh and high quality ingredients. There are plenty of OK pizza joints in Seattle, but I'll drive the 20 min. cross town for a slice of Zagis. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Burgermaster "yeah- it's burgermaster!" October 26, 2007 - caveat emptor. |

Garlic Jim's Famous Gourmet Pizza "Famous?" August 15, 2007 - How is it "famous" if I've never heard of it? I live down the street from this renowned joint and will eventually eat there. Then I'll put a post here on Seattle's only restaurant review site! |

Palmyra "It was OK" July 11, 2007 - It was OK. Very friendly woman (owner?) and small family run feel. The food was OK- |

Great Harvest Bread Co (Sand Point) "Great neighborhood bread and more" June 18, 2007 - The bread is of course the main attraction- Challah is phenomenal; Cinnamon twister is amazing and I often sample slices if I stop in for a sandwich or coffee. The bread is a little pricey- but worth it given the quality ingredients. Their sandwiches are a hearty, solid meal- and if you're lucky try a butterscotch cookie. Nate & Dayspring (owners) and the folks who work for them seem really committed and passionate about baking and although it sounds cheesy- I'll drive or ride my bike out of the way to get a cup of Peet's coffee in the morning or pick up a loaf of bread in the afternoon because I really like this Great Harvest. |

Wasabi Bistro "Happy Hour" June 15, 2007 - I like their happy hour. On the couple of occasions that I've dragged myself out of Ballard to Belltown for happy hour, I've enjoyed their reasonably priced happy hour menu. The place has a nice atmosphere and the sushi was fresh and good! |

Agua Verde "a paddle and a margarita?" February 25, 2007 - fun, casual atmosphere- a great place to meet friends... paddle for an hour or 2 and then enjoy a margarita on the water. the fish tacos or any of the others (boniata tacos with sweet potato, yum) are pretty tasty. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Chiang's Gourmet "direct quote from the Seattle Times:" November 20, 2006 - I've never eaten here, but the Seattle Times reviewer has:Crispy Pig's Intestine in Garlic and Hot Pepper: Soul-food lovers will delight in this Chinese version of chitterlings. The deep-fried intestines are chewy and come with a heavy dose of dried red pepper that cuts nicely into the intestines' richness. |

Musashi's "i love sushi, but..." November 08, 2006 - I really really love sushi. I especially like large pieces of fresh raw fish that doesn't break the bank. I also sometimes like complex and interesting combinations of sushi as rolls or nigiri... but mostly i just like sashimi. Anyway, musashi's consistently delivers good tuna for a low price, but the place is really so dirty that I am lately having a hard time looking past the disgusting bathroom and kitchen. I mean, we're talking about raw fish, right? Shouldn't the whole operation be fairly clean? Anyway, the maguro is excellent but don't look to closely into the kitchen. 2 people like this review - Recommend |

Tamarind Tree "fresh and creative, but fatally flawed" November 08, 2006 - Tasty dishes fresh and complex flavors and interactive make your own rolls dishes were combining in a perfect storm of vietnamese food to make this a new regular on my urban spoon list. However a tip from an anonymous friend (post-dining experience) regarding alleged health code violations prompted me to check out the King Co. health code violations website. READ NO FURTHER IF YOU ENJOY EATING AT THIS RESTAURANTSome simple investigation reveals numerous health code violations related to cleanliness, lack of hand washing, presence of rodents (!) insects or animals etc. The list is long. I think they closed the place down at one point. Sorry to burst the bubble if you like this place. http://www.decadeonline.com/insp.phtml?agency=skc&forceresul ts=1&record_id=PR0004257 |

Other Coast Cafe "solid toasted sub" November 08, 2006 - I really like the "ragin cajun" sub- consistently delicious boars head meat, tons of cheese and the sauce (cocktail sauce? mayonnaise?) is just right. Toasted in the oven and crispy on the outside. I have no idea what the other food here is like- although I have seen people enjoying veggie sandwiches... I come here for the best sub in Seattle- although I don't come here too often because I usually eat so fast that my stomach hurts. Plus, a pound of turkey and cheese can't be very good for you. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Thai One on "lunch" November 02, 2006 - I eat here for lunch easily once a week. It's red curry chicken is excellent- complex and spicey and the Pah Kee Mao is usually very good. Honestly, best thai food I've had in Seattle. |
|
Fiddler's Inn "hippies use side door" November 02, 2006 - This bar was non-smoking before non-smoking was cool (or the law). The food is excellent and the beer selection is local and solid. Set aside some time and check out the fiddler up in Ravenna. It's also the closest bar to where I work. |
|
Ray's Boathouse "one word: happy hour" November 02, 2006 - Ray's is solid between the hours of 4-6 and after 10. There food is really great value for the $$ in particular the tuna (sashimi) and the thai mussels and the salmon burger and the walnut/blue cheese salad... Fight for a seat in the bar in the summer, or wait for the winter and the crowds to thin out. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

India Bistro "consistent quality" November 02, 2006 - Although I've never been to India and can't vouch for the authenticity- Makesh and his kitchen consistently deliver complex and tasty dishes at a reasonable price. This is the restaurant that we take out of town friends to. Plus, any place that has a customer appreciation night is a winner. |
|
Border Cafe "fake ID anyone?" February 25, 2007 - fun atmosphere, huge margaritas- the food gets better the more margaritas you've consumed... the best part about this restaurant is that they'll serve alcohol to just about anyone with a picture of your face glued onto a piece of paper stating that you're 21. |
|
Sai Cafe "only place to eat unagi..." February 25, 2007 - seriously, this is the only restaurant i've been able to not only stomach eel... i actually crave it! sai cafe consistently delivers quality sushi- appealing presentation and not overwhelmingly pricey. please do not use the warm towel anywhere other than your hands or face. i'm only sorry that i still don't live in chicago to enjoy this favorite restaurant! |

Shabusen Yakiniku House (Burrard) "one word: allyoucaneat" August 25, 2007 - Shabusen is a well-known secret. "All you can eat" and "excellent sushi" are not two phrases often paired together- but this place is the exception to the rule. The sushi is fresh and delicious, and there's even Korean BBQ! We have driven and sailed hours out of the way just to stop in for dinner here. There's often a wait on the weekend, so it's worthwhile to call ahead or put your name on the list and then walk around downtown for a bit. If you like lots of good quality raw fish for a bargain, this is the place. Oh- and Shabusen tip #14: don't waste your time on the filler- save all available room for the toro. |
