Quinn's
"The BeerHunter would be pleased"
April 20, 2008 - I took too long to get to Quinn's for the first time - last night - but found absolute proof that it's better late than never.  Creative cuisine, great beers, eclectic wine selection, serious whiskies, and outstanding service.  I worked closely with the late Michael Jackson (the English beer writer, not the gloved one) for 6 years as director of his U.S. beer clubs, and only regret that he won't be visiting Seattle to see me again - because we would have enjoyed a Quinn's trip together.  Glad to see someone taking this concept as seriously as they do there - a must try.  Cheers.

Tavolata
"Great food, creative menu"
October 11, 2007 - If you are looking for traditional Italian grub with marinara sauce, or cozy tables with red and white checkered cloths, this is not the place for you.  But then, what would you be doing in Belltown?
We've been 3 times, and enjoyed it a great deal every visit.  OK, so the room is tall and open, and if you don't like the idea of a communal table, you might not quite get it - granted, once we got a small booth on the right side of the dining room, and it was quite romantic.  The food is a creative mixture of new and old world from one of the best chefs in the west right now.  Really refreshing is the fairly-priced and eclectic wine list.  Remember when you are waiting for a table that the whole place is not about the Belltown cocktail crowd that populates the bar area up front on later weekend nights - and just be glad that we can get such delicious and artistic food at decent prices, late at night in Seattle - finally!
