Soup's On! "Made for the gray flannel crowd" May 13, 2008 - A bit overpriced and unexciting soups. |
Delaurenti Specialty Food and Wine "cheaper than you'd think" May 13, 2008 - $3 pizza slices? Hell yeah! |
Satellite Lounge "curious" April 27, 2008 - Giant, cheap nachos and well-priced beer made up for the understaffed bar. I wouldn't go across town for it, but for a quick bus ride up from work it was a nice change of pace. |
Ballroom "giant pizza slices ahoy" April 27, 2008 - Went for a very impressive happy hour, with $3 pints and $3 base-price pizza slices with an array of great toppings. The place was nearly empty and the service was great. I guess it fills up during the evening, especially with the outside seating in the summertime, but if you're craving a hunkin' slice of pizza near Fremont, this is the place to go. |

Slim's Last Chance Chili Shack "impressive" April 27, 2008 - Burgers the size of your head, and wonderful carnivorous chili make this worth the trek. 3 people like this review - Recommend |

By's Drive-in "underrated" April 27, 2008 - This is the best burger we've found within easy busing of downtown. Wait a couple extra stops past the tunnel and you're at a completely legit burger shack. I've only ever needed the Lou's special - a double bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink for $7! - though I'm always tempted by the fish and chips. |
Sisters European Snacks "left hungry" April 09, 2008 - Sandwiches need to be bigger or tastier for the price, which is already low. |
Palermo "can't complain" March 27, 2008 - The authenticity of the italianness is a little forced, but the pizza was good enough that I really didn't care. Definitely worth trying, and I wouldn't bat an eye at bringing my parents there, but maybe not a date. |

Icon Grill "so you're going with that decor, then?" March 27, 2008 - We came here looking for a decent burger downtown. I'm not sure I would classify that move as a mistake, in retrospect, but I think we did leave with the impression that we had not found one there. The decor is swank to the extreme, I think ironically so (oh, Seattle!). The food was more Chow Foods than Tom Douglas, which is not a bad thing, except the prices were somewhere in between.I think I came away with the feeling that it is someplace you would take a date that you wanted to impress but didn't want to scare off with weird food. Someone pleased by fanciness but unaccustomed to it. 2 people like this review - Recommend |

Pike Pub & Brewery "tourist-tastic" March 27, 2008 - Pike has some passable brews, esp. the kilt-lifter, but man the food here is incredibly mainstream and way overpriced. Seattle is lousy with great, cheap pubs, so do yourself a favor and find an honest one. |
Thai Ginger (Pacific Place) "spicyness" March 27, 2008 - Sure, it's awfully mild for a thai restaurant, but it's in Pacific Place. You're lucky it's edible, and that it's actually good is remarkable. There's very little good thai available in the neighborhood, so order a star or two above your usual and you'll enjoy it. |
Todai Restaurant Japanese Sushi & Seafood Buffet "mixed" March 27, 2008 - I'm going to review this without voting because I really can't go one way or the other on it. The novelty of a sushi buffet is certainly remarkable. If you often find yourself spending more than $15 on sushi when you eat out, this is likely to be a stunning deal for you. If you don't, there's little to recommend here. So come hungry, and eat carefully. There's a lot of filling food by design, so eat right and you'll enjoy it. I can't deny that you'll get your money's worth. As for myself, typically when I want sushi, I have something else in mind. 7 people like this review - Recommend |

Marcus' "martini basement" February 29, 2008 - It's subtitled "martini heaven", but mine was bruised badly. Great atmosphere but out of 3 people all our drinks were misdone in some way. I'd probably give it another shot if it was closer but I wouldn't hike across a neighborhood for it. |
Ichiban "yum, udon" February 19, 2008 - Be sure and spring for the handmade noodles in your Udon! |
PF Changs China Bistro (Downtown) "All the trappings of gourmet without the food" February 05, 2008 - This is like some businessman's wet dream of a Chinese restaurant. Ride the bus tunnel 10 minutes south for actual Chinese food instead, don't waste your money on this oversauced, overpriced mall Chinese in a fancy dining room. |
Specialty's Cafe & Bakery "The hot sandwiches work" January 28, 2008 - Unlike the previous commenter I stuck to the hot sandwiches so far and have been very pleased. So it's not all tears and disappointment. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Golden City Seafood Restaurant "qualified like" January 17, 2008 - As mentioned, the $4 lunch specials are pretty cool. In a party of 8 we had rather spotty results, however. The congee was a success, as was the orange chicken, but the short ribs were unfortunate and most of the meals rather too salty. For the price it's hard to complain /too/ much. Just don't expect miracles at $4. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Malena's Taco Shop (Ballard) "cheap but quite munchable" January 15, 2008 - If this place was open till 3am it would be absolutely perfect. As it is, you're stuck going there for lunch or dinner, and for those meals it can be pretty underwhelming. But if you're hungry for mexican and only have a few bucks, get the fajita and have no regrets. |
Reading Gaol Pub & Grill "quietly British" January 15, 2008 - Unlike a lot of English-style pubs, this one doesn't make a big deal about it. They serve their beers, they have their dining room, and they generally let you get on with it. Nice big dining room and good service, this is a wonderful, little-known joint. |
Samurai Noodle "ramen, but not as you know it" January 15, 2008 - Wonderful service and surprising variety in this postage stamp of a noodle joint. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |
Deluxe Bar & Grill "stick to happy hour" January 08, 2008 - Strangely, I like happy hour here much better than the regular dining. I think they pull off the food specials better than their standard menu, which is merely servicable. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |
Bleu Bistro "perfect for late winter nights" January 08, 2008 - Yes, it's small, and yes, it's dark. All the better to fool around with your date. The prices are a little higher than average, because the drinks are strong and the food is inventive and always good. 4 people like this review - Recommend |

Zayda Buddy's Pizza "Great midwestern comfort food" December 14, 2007 - From Minnesota? Wish you were? Enjoy honest midwest food with an egg cracked on anything you want. Good, cheap, working-class. |
Jolly Roger Tap Room "good beers, even better on tap" November 21, 2007 - Maritime's brews are delicious bottled, and even better when paired with their delicious food. Great wintertime hideout by the water. |
Ballard Smoke Shop and Ember Room "a taste of Old Ballard" June 13, 2007 - Miraculously untouched by any new money or youth, this cheap diner joint looks like your parent's Ballard. Eat there while you still can! 3 people like this review - Recommend |
Tin Hat Bar & Grill "honest" June 06, 2007 - Unpretentious, working class, Ballard. Good atmosphere to boot! Try the nachos, too. |
Brouwer's Café "a local treasure" June 06, 2007 - Nowhere else can you enjoy such an enormous selection of good brews offered by a staff that clearly loves their product. Gets busy on weekends, so go after dinner with your lover and enjoy a drink or two before the next day's work. You'll be glad you did. |
Old Town Alehouse "Good stuff on occasions" April 20, 2007 - Overpriced, but earnest and good. Stick to the Washington microbrews. Attracts an older crowd for some reason. |
Duke's Chowder House (Lake Union) "overpriced but very, very good" April 05, 2007 - Your tiny $5 chowder cup will indeed taste award-winning. Eat on someone else's dime. The atmosphere is odd, you might feel out of place if you're under 40, but ignore it and enjoy the food. |
La Carta de Oaxaca "Good, but surprisingly expensive" March 13, 2007 - Went there for dinner food, got flattened on some ass-kicking margaritas, and paid too much for not much food, but it was so good! |
Denny's Restaurant (Ballard) "avoid" March 08, 2007 - This is the shadiest Denny's in the area, and that's saying a lot. There's so many better places to eat in Ballard, I don't care what time of night it is, stay away from this dive. |
Subway (Ballard - 15th) "always open for questionable service" March 08, 2007 - One of the few 24-hour Subways. Very busy during the daytime, service - as with many fast food joints - can be very spotty, and the place is about the size of a shoebox. But if you're craving a meatball sandwich at 3am and you're in a hurry, this is where you gotta go. |
Hale's Ales Brewpub "Cool pub, middling brews" March 08, 2007 - I have more respect for the place than their brews, as the Hale's beers seem middle of the road for a Seattle micro, but this is such a classy pub that it's hard to argue much. Just don't feel bad if you order a Deschutes with your pizza. |
Vera's Restaurant "cash only, doh!" March 08, 2007 - Great diner food, but make sure you have cash. |
Market Street Grill "overpriced" March 08, 2007 - Seemed to be all class and no taste. You can easily get better food for the price elsewhere, as you're really paying for the fancy here. |
Great Harvest Bread Co (Ballard) "Stick to the bread." March 08, 2007 - The sandwiches are overpriced, but the bread's always great. |
Hi-Life "Awesome happy hour" March 08, 2007 - Their $3 drinks at happy hour is tough to beat. |
