Lark "Overpriced Underachiever" April 07, 2008 - Four of us decided to give Lark a try. Upon entering and a recent Sunday evening we were surprised to find most of the tables empty. By the end of our "meal" I think I understand why. Lark bills the food as "small plates". It is actually "large plates" with very little food! Each item is barely enough to be considered a portion. The food to price ratio is ridiculous. Our server was adequate but not very engaging. The atmosphere was like an army barracks with tables. Seating was uncomfortable and begs you to eat and get out. The food itself was uninspired. While the menu description made the items sound interesting, the execution was lacking. The gnuddi was just ok. The 3 cheese plate had such a small sliver of each cheese it was laughable (crackers extra$). The salmon had skin on which would be fine, but they left the scales on also. Veal sweetbreads were laying in a bland sauce and overcooked. Deserts were pretty good and they have a small but decent wine list. They are too many better choices for small plate dining in Seattle. The owner(s) should try being a customer in their own place and see if they would come back. |

Bricco Della Regina Anna "Unpretentious" December 29, 2007 - This place could be bigger as it is always busy. The wait staff are friendly and wine savvy. I have tried many new wines here based on their recommendations. A very good selection of cured meats and cheeses served up with some outstanding jams go great with the wine and "gourmet" beers.Entries are not that inspired. I think because the kitchen area is pretty small and most entries are prepared and frozen. When ordered they are heated in an oven or microwave. Twice my Polenta in Tomato Sauce With Mozzarella was still frozen in the middle.Chocolate desserts are outstanding! 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Mecca Cafe "Drunks Serving Drunks" December 29, 2007 - This is their motto and should give a clue when to eat here. If you have been to Pesos or Ozzies or any of the other Lower Queen Anne water holes, and it 2 am and feel like you will eat anything, enter the Mecca. Between the dim lights and your blurred vision, you won't notice the dirty silverware and lipstick on your water glass. You can count on greasy food and a server with an attitude. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Moxie "My experience" December 29, 2007 - We had former neighbors come back to Seattle for a big football game. One of our activities was to go to Moxie. We called and made reservations. We got there 10 minutes before our scheduled time, only to have the hostess tell us there was no reservation for that time. To her credit she set up a table for 8 and sat us. It took some time for our server to acknowledge us. We were finally brought drinks only to have our server dump a glass of red wine on one of our guests white wool coat. Now to her credit she took it back to the kitchen and used club soda to get the "red out" and offered to have it cleaned. Our entries came and we all agreed that they were just average. For all the hype of owner and chef, I expected to say WOW. Maybe my expectations were too high, or the drama that preceded the food clouded my overall experience. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Pagliacci "Remodeled inside & out" December 29, 2007 - Now they need to remodel customer service. You still wait for a salad that just needs to be shoved into a container. I have yet to figure out what the purpose of the pizza warmer is. I have never gotten a hot slice out of that thing. Good thing I always get my slice to go, so I can warm it up at home. The whole experience is less than ideal. But it is still the best choice for pizza in Lower Queen Anne. |

Peso's Kitchen and Lounge "Not typical Mexican fare" December 29, 2007 - If you are looking for Azteca, this is NOT it! But if you are looking for a new take on Mexican flavors, cheap drinks, and a loud, fun atmosphere this is the place.Anything with Diablo in the name is "HOT". One of my favorite items is the Shrimp & Corn Chowder. Great flavor and very filling. The Nachos are a must have. Get there for Happy Hour. Same menu items at a fraction of the price. The "Hang Over Breakfast" is just that. But be prepared to wait for a table. Big portions at the right price! 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Tini Bigs Lounge "Another world" December 29, 2007 - Step off of Denny and into Tini Bigs and you feel like you have entered another world. No matter how busy, the bar staff go out of their way to welcome you. I have gone in when there was barely standing room and still got a "hello and let me get you a drink" from the bartender. The staff are knowledgeable of the martinis and can expertly recommend a winner for those that are martini challenged. If you are a single scotch drinker, I recommend the Smoky Martini! 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Deli & Espresso (Westlake) "Not much menu change" December 29, 2007 - I work in the area so eat here pretty often. Unfortunately the only thing that changes is the soup. The sandwiches are made individually and fresh. But get tired of the same old, same old. Seating area is small and pushed against the chip display. Really poor use of space. |

Sam's Sushi Bar & Grill "Favorite for locals" December 29, 2007 - I love to run in and pick up a selection of sushi from Sam's. Let him pick your choices! You can't go wrong. It is not the most comfortable place to have a sit down dining as the chairs are hard and the light s are pretty bright. The wait staff are terrific and helpful for the sushi challenged. The best seats in the house are at the sushi bar. Sam has a large tv in good view so that he can keep up with whatever sports event is playing. Amazing how he can use a sharp knife and watch the Sonics on tv without cutting a finger off. Sam is a great sushi chef, and a likable guy. Introduce yourself on your first visit and he will remember you like an old friend on your return. 2 people like this review - Recommend |

Julia's on Queen Anne "Good comfort food" December 29, 2007 - This is not an intimate spot for a romantic dinner. However it is family friendly. It is in a converted Queen Anne house with table settings in each room. There is no mood lighting with it's over bright lights. The food is home cooking comfort food. I had the meat loaf which was pretty good. A large portion of meat loaf, and a mound of mash potatoes was just what the doctor ordered on a chilly night. My biggest complaint is with the staff. We arrived at 7:30 pm on a Friday evening. They must close at 8 pm as we were no sooner served our entres than they brought our check. No desert or coffee offered and they were bringing in the sandwich boards from outside. What sit down restaurant in a busy area like Queen Anne closes at 8 pm on a Friday night? 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

El Chupacabra "Not for the faint of heart" December 19, 2007 - If you ever looked at that person next to you with a bunch of tattoos and piercings and bright colored hair and wondered where they worked.......this is the place! This is no place for mid-west tourists. But for us Seattle-ites that have grown up with grunge and goth and all the diversity that this city offers, this is mecca!! Some times the food is a little cold or maybe not quite what you ordered. When that happens, sit back, relax, have another Sol and know you are at a place that is truly unique. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Crow "Love it!" December 19, 2007 - If you have read any of my other reviews, you know I live in Lower Queen Anne and seldom do the Mrs. and I eat at home. Crow is one of our favorites. The menu is a little limited, but this allows the kitchen to make the most of every dish. My favorite and the house specialty is Lasagna. It literally melts in your mouth. The noodles are done to perfection with the meat seasoned just right. Service is sometimes a little slow, but there is never any rush to eat and get out. Dining at Crow is more an experience than just a meal. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |

Racha Noodle & Thai Cuisine "Hit or Miss" December 19, 2007 - When the moon and stars are aligned this is a great place! Unfortunately this doesn't happen very often. I have eaten at Racha 6 times in the last year. The best service is at the bar. Table service is pretty sketchy. The food is acceptable, although a bit bland. I always order 5 star. One of the best dishes in my opinion is the Phad Tai Woo Sen. The best time to visit there is after 7 pm. That is when most have moved on to whatever event is going on at the Key Arena. |

Ten Mercer "One of my favorites........" December 19, 2007 - I live in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood, and very seldom eat at home. Ten is one of my regular places. From the front of the house to the kitchen this place is the bomb! Food is fresh and original. Great drink selection and a crew of top shelf bartenders. Wait staff have all been there long enough to make sure you enjoy your dining experience. The prices are a little higher than most places in Lower Queen Anne, but it is equal to the level of service and quality you can expect. |
