Market Street Grill
"you can't get steak like that for 25 dollars"
April 27, 2007 - except here. any sunday.  i think typically this entree goes for $47.  it's fabulous, as are the truffle fries it comes with.  and the caesar salad is my favorite in the city (i am a fanatic and have tried hundreds over the years).
on sundays you get ANY soup or salad, ANY entree, and ANY dessert all for 25 freakin' dollars.  it's 25 for 25 year ROUND, how can you not go?
great service.  go. go now.

Hot Dish
"the world's best, most elusive French Onion Soup"
April 25, 2007 - Seriously, it's the ultimate--made with veal stock, oodles of gruyere, and a crouton that manages to stay slightly crunchy even while soaked through with with that amazing stock.  I've gone explicitly and twice they've been out.  Dammit.  They also have the best carrot cake I've had--a dense, moist olive oil cake, a caramel filling that's subtly buttery, and just enough cream cheese icing to make it the real deal.  Hot Dish has hits that are so out-of-the-park fabulous it makes it worth a try, and make up for its near-misses.  Agree with the hash-brown comment as well!
