Palmira's Italian Food & Jazz (in Brooklyn) "Doomed corner for Palmira's" March 11, 2007 - Palmira's was a good restaurant but sadly had to close it's doors because it was on the corner of doom. They have recently gone out of business..(tear) For those that aren't familiar with the doom reference...not many restaurants have a long life in the heights. Palmira suffered that same fate. On the corner of Clark, or Henry there are many vacant restaurants due to the high real estate costs and cuisine which falls short of attracting customers. Palmira's had survived and out lived other neighborhood dives, so it was a shock that they too have an boarded up exterior and are no longer apart of the heights. (Urbanspoon this should be updated) |

Park Plaza Restaurant (in Brooklyn) "Stick to the basics at Park Plaza" March 11, 2007 - This place is okay. The service is somewhat slow and food can be somewhat bland but if you stick to the basics and don't try to order anything too over the top. You should be pretty content with the food. A plus is that its open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday, but buyer beware the food can become pricey especially for delivers and ordering takeout. They charge extra for everything, and make many mistakes with the bill. Luckily, since its a neighborhood spot and want to please its customers always rectify errors with cost. If you bring to their attention. Also when ordering take out they sometimes forget to put the entire order in the bag. I am always missing a coke or sauce or dessert by mistake which was left on the counter. Keep in mind when ordering take out that the delivery guy will probably make two trips. |

Amin Indian Cuisine (in Brooklyn) "Bland, Blah and Expensive!" March 11, 2007 - This restaurant puts the shame in Indian cuisine. Bland, bland and more bland. I have eaten here three times, which is three times too many...It would of been more satisfying to go to the grocery buy curry powder and Indian seasonings then to eat another meal from this establishment. My first time at Amin's was because I was exploring neighborhood gems...needless to say this is not a gem. The second instance I had forgotten my previous experience. Had a date, he had chicken curry masala me the tandori. My chicken tasted like rubber and had a roach to match, his curry which should of been spicy, juicy and delicious was bland dry and disgusting! Yuck! My last experience was at a lunch meeting and some bozo thought it a great idea to eat there (Not) I wouldn't recommend the heights when you crave something other then Asian cuisine or Italian. The restaurants in this great scenic neighborhood don't have much flair in other ethnic foods. You are better off venturing to the city...Indian row or the mid 20's near barauch (sorry don't know how to spell that) mid town in the 50's or taking a trip to queens to experience authentic Indian cuisine. This place is overrated and too expensive for bland food.Hated it!! |

Happy Days Diner (in Brooklyn) "There's nothing Happy Here!!!" March 11, 2007 - There's nothing happy about this hole in the wall dump!! Don't eat here! the service is bad, food terrible and it's really dirty. Airline food is better then the crap offered at the restaurant. No one from brooklyn heights eats at this establishment....all tourists go here. Word to the wise avoid at all costs. Don't be fooled that it has been in the neighborhood for over ten years, disgusting, you know a place is bad if they can't make regualar diner food appetizing. 1 person likes this review - Recommend |
